Why do we start saying people have a poor attitude or are not Christlike? When we suggest that a study be made to determine the need and effectiveness of the International Offices. Does the IO exist to benefit the Local Churches (field) or do the Local Churches exist to benefit the IO? Trust is a bi...

Unless there is more to the report than what is posted on the web site, the ARK study was about Real Estate Holdings. Not the need for a particluar office [position]. I have not seen a person that serves at the IO out in the field for several years. They used to travel around and promote the work of...

The elephant in the Room

Before any selling of existing property and/or building new offices, a study should be done on the benefit and cost of each office. Ask yourself, How does my church benefit from the International Offices? What we done a hundred years ago may not be needed in the church of today. States have been com...

Thanks again to all who have replied. I will try to answer the last three. Pastor Bill,As for them being involved in state and district functions. There are no district functions in my area that I am aware of. There is a possibility of them sending kids to youth camp. Brother Gary, thanks for your s...

Re: Pastoring Independent Church

Thanks PastorDaniel and Paul for you replys! The role of the pastor is much the same as in the CoGoP. The main exception being the church council which the pastor is chairman of. They have great respect for the pastor. The church does see it self as part of the larger Body of Christ. They have had p...

Pastoring Independent Church

I have been asked to pastor an independent church. They believe and teach almost identical to the CoGoP. I have been a pastor in the CoGoP for over 30 years and would keep my membership and ministry credentals there. I expect to have another meeting with their council next week. Anyone have any advi...

Somebody is waaaay behind

In response to the FQ's post.
I went through it line by line and most of it was between 20 an 30 years in the past; and some of it I have never seen, or done or heard of anyone doing, in 40+ years in the COGOP.

Was I offended? No.
I realized that the writer is ignorant of todays COGOP.

re:Restructering question, Mr. Danger

"Having followed this board for several years, I know there is some very wise and discerning people on here." Feel free to address your posts to Mrdanger since you are obviously referring to me. :D I appreciate the humor, and as someone said it is necessary to use humor when discussing th...

[quote="Pianoman"]/ I honestly don't know how an overseer can also pastor unless he has a really qualified leadership team or associate pastor. I think this may be on the right track, the overseers church which would be one of the larger churches in the area and could serve as a training/d...

[[i]quote="Pastor Bill"] Our SO sees himself as pastor to the pastors, and when needed is all over the state, how active is he in the local church where he holds membership, I'm not sure, but I know of times where he has been out of there for weeks at a time covering another church where t...

Restructering question

Having followed this board for several years, I know there is some very wise and discerning people on here. Many who were responsible in bringing us to a better understanding of the need for changes in our doctrinal stands. So with that in mind I pose the following question. You have been slected to...

State and International offices?

This is a question that I have been asked over and over, so in context with the proxy thread and the reports thread. How has your church (CoGoP) benifited, been blessed by or helped by the International Offices? This same question applies to the State Office. The questions I get are why should we se...

Re: proxy, purpose of the Assembly

Yes and No, I never said conducting business was not the purpose, only that it is not the ONLY purpose, and I can't say it's the most important purpose since that business could be conducted many other ways that would be more inclusive than requiring a single location for an international organizati...

proxy, purpose of the Assembly

If the only reason a person attends assembly is to cast their vote, then they are missing most of the purpose of that week. If the purpose for having the Assembly, is not for conducting business that involves the worldwide church (CoGoP). What is its purpose?? But if your statement is right and con...
