Three nuns came in and sat in the row in front of me just before the movie started. I asked them if this was The March of the Penguins or what. They didn't seem amused. I, of course, still am.

The movie was just a little better than I expected it to be. I liked it.

I thought I heard that the vatican boycotted the movie?

Really, do you expect anyone here to be impressed that you shelled out 8 bucks to see this farce?

I do not find your comment about the March of the Penguins amusing.

But, I may go watch this on Saturday, but not sure yet. I have heard a lot about the book, but I have not read it yet. Basically because I have been to lazy, but I want to see the movie even if the critics panned the movie. It does have one of my favorite actresses.

I had planned to go see it today, but it didn't work out.

Although a little late, but this week on the History Channel they are having a lot of documentaries on the DaVinci Code. There is one on now about the guy who "found" the DaVinci Code.

I personally wouldn't spend the money on the opening weekend. I'll watch the DVD later...

For those of you who have seen it, is it as blatantly anti-Christian as advertised? Would a new believer struggle as a result? etc, etc.

Man, that was raw. What did they ever do to you? And even if they had done something to you, what excuse would you have for not forgiving and loving them? Seems to me the anti-christian attitudes were less on the screen and more in the audience that night. Really swift, dude...

I'm not going to contribute to the bottom line of this movie by seeing it at the theater or getting the DVD. I'll watch it when it comes on TV.

Ron Howard has directed some great movies. Why did he get mixed up in this mess?

As for the question is it anti-Christian, I do not feel it is anti-Christian.

A new believer could walk away confused because of the way it deviates from traditional Christian views.

Anyone who goes to see this movie must remember that this is a work of FICTION not an intent to promote Christian doctrine. I have read the book, and seen the movie and as a Christian am not offended because I realize it is FICTION, the same as other movies that I have seen.

Does it bother you that Dan Brown himself asserts that the events and storyline are actually true, with the exception of the main character? Those of us who know scripture and history may have no problem discerning truth from fiction, but what when it's promoted as "faction," not fiction, should we expect the same discerning from a seeker, the ill-informed public, or say our youth and young adults who are consistently bombarded with lies and seducing doctrines? Perhaps the only thing needed for doubt to set in is the plausibility of otherwise outrageous claims. The public need not go away from the movie saying, "Wow that was true?" They need only leave saying, "Hmm. I wonder if what I've been led to believe all these years is really true." Again, I may not have such a struggle with it if it weren't for the assertion that this whole thing is based on a true story. I admit it's probably getting more attention than it deserves from the faith community.

FYI: I am still undecided as to my support/rejection of this movie. I guess you could say I'm looking for wise counsel.

I saw it and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I would have never had the patience to read the entire book and I wanted to know what all the hype was about. We can't defend our faith if we don't know what other people are starting to believe. If someone came to me and asked me if Mary Mag and Jesus were married, now I have an understanding of where they might have gotten such a bizarre idea. And I know how to approach it. The fact of the matter is that this movie will gross a ton of money whether the Christian population sees it or not. I had to go to a 10 o'clock showing because everything else was sold out.

Asking who's side we're on because of a movie is a little over the top, in my opinion. Closing our eyes to it will not make the movie go away. I'd rather embrace it as an opportunity to share the TRUTH. I may be the only person on here who feels this way, but I question what I believe almost every day. I don't think that makes me any less of a Christian than anyone else, it makes me human. I have never abandoned my faith, and I'm not going to do so now. It's only one more thing that proves to me that God is real and His gospel is factual. Sometimes we need a reminder.
