What's your favorite Christmas Movie?

Postby Sherry » November 26th, 2007, 10:30 am

What is your favorite Christmas movie that you have to watch every year?

Mine is "It's a Wonderful Life," we watch it every single Christmas Eve before we go to bed. It's been a family traditions for more years than I can remember! We can quote lines and it never fails that I tear up during certain parts. But it's a part of Christmas that I wouldn't miss!!

In no particular order:

Elf
Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer
Frosty the Snowman
Nestor the long eared Donkey
Santa Claus is coming to town

Definitely It's a Wonderful Life! The black and white version, not the colorized one.

Though I guess it's not technically a movie, A Charlie Brown Christmas is my favorite TV special! It's pretty much the only one that tells the true Christmas story. And then Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer...

I wish I could find the original pre-tv series Walton's Christmas. I LOVED that one (though it is weird seeing them without Ralph Waite and Michael Learned).

Thanks for sharing that. I will have to check it out. Also, I will look back through the threads. You mentioned a site where you watched an episode of something. I wonder if they have Journeyman episodes on there.

I don't really have a favorite Christmas movie. I just know the one I hate. It's the one where the boy wants a bb gun. He gets it at the end and well shoots his eye out like everyone said he would. It comes on every Christmas and I HATE it. LOL....

Thanks for posting that! I had forgotten about some of those. We used to always watch "A Garfield Christmas".

A favorite movie that slipped my mind is "A Muppet Christmas Carol".

Christmas Vacation (When I first saw it, I nearly wet my pants I laughed so hard)
Miracle on 34th St. (The original, not the 90's version)
It's a Wonderful Life

Also there's a little known Disney short called "Little One" about a broken down old donkey that ends up becoming the donkey that Mary rides to Bethlehem. I really like that one.

I like Nestor the Long-Eared Donkey. I love the cartoon Grinch and the Peanuts Christmas. I also love It's a Wonderful Life and White Christmas.

No one has mentioned the Star Wars Christmas Special!! :-)

Oh have mercy! I remember watching that as a kid, and I thought it was the coolest thing in the world.

Then, in the 90's, I ordered a bootleg copy off of the internet. Talk about having your childhood memories trampled. That thing was AWFUL! Bea Arthur and Harvey Korman in a Star Wars show?

Trust me, you don't! The only thing good about it was the Boba Fett cartoon.

But, if you are curious, here's an abreviated version:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asnVcbWQ2cg

This is actually the best way to watch it, as it cuts out most of the boring parts. And there were LOTS of boring parts!

Oh brother. And that was just the GOOD parts? LOL! Slightly amusing at best. :) I couldn't stand Bea Arthur's singing, skipped all 10 seconds of it. Always wondered though if Carrie Fisher sang better than her mama. Nope!
