So what is this about Dewayne? I have seen it advertised in comic shops, but haven't heard anything about it.

I haven't been in a comic shop since March. Are you pulling my leg? Say it ain't so.

Nope. The first issue came out this week. One rumor I heard was that he was going to be killed off and that Jason Todd was taking his place. But that is such a blatant rip off of the story line they are doing with Captain America.

Another rumor was that Bruce Wayne is going to become a NEW GOD and that either Nightwing or Jason Todd will take his place.

Just wondered if you knew what the deal was.

By the way, since I asked the question in the post earlier, I read those theories.

When I saw the name of the thread, I thought Adam West had died or something.

I hope DC doesn't do this. If they do, then they will have jumped the shark big time.

When I read that about the plan and how it obviously mimics what is going on with Captain America, I was shocked they would even consider doing it.

1. They need to look at how much Marvel has come under fire for "killing off" Steve Rogers.

2. The only reason why it's working on C.A. is they are doing a good job of telling a story that has you wanting to see what's going to happen next.

If they think they can tell a better story, then more power to them. I just think it's still going to come across as jumping the shark as you said.

I don't like this one bit.

EDIT-Okay, I can think of a way it could work and I'd be okay with it. What if Bruce decides he's had enough of a crime fighting career and hands the mantle down to Dick Grayson, who for all intents and purposes is Batman-in-training anyway. Bruce marries and decides to live the billionaire life for a few years until he's pulled back in with the murder of his new wife (ala Death Wish). Temporary retirement is ok. Death isn't.

Hey it's no way a costumed masked guy can compete with all the super powered villains he has come up against. One is going to off him or maybe he can grow *finally* some real super powers. I mean a BAT that doesn't fly... come on.

*ducking now as I just pitched a flaming bomb in the room * hehehe

MacUser, I've lost all respect for you.

The series continues and if what's been reported is true, I'm going to be pretty aggravated.

Not a Batman fan, but just reading that left me with one thought on my mind: :sb_huh:

I love Batman, I really do.

Wait...let's start that over.

I've been a Batman "fan" since I was four years old and watched the old Adam West series in it's original run. (One of the great dissappointments in life was seeing the series again for the first time as an adult and seeing how campy it was...to a four year old it was SO real).

Anyway over the years I picked up Batman here and there but only became a serious collector in the past ten or so.

Come on it's obvious: Bruce Wayne is mortal. No super powers. No invulnerability. No mutant gene. He's been going what 60 years??

The only solutions to the fraility of his humanity is to conitinually reboot the character, pretend he's immortal when he's not, have someone replace him, or have him imbued with some sort of Special Factor which would give him some sort of supernatural strength, resiliency, or invulnerability.

Personally I'd like to keep old Bruce. Give him an age defying plot device.

This is so retarded. Bruce Wayne is the ONLY person who can be Batman. (Or maybe Dick Grayson in a pinch). Why do they have to screw with us this way?

It reminds me of the original plan for Superman Returns. For those of you who didn't like it, you should have heard what was planned. Krypton never exploded, parents still alive. Superman in a black leotard doing Matrix-style kicks at Kryptonians and Luthor was going to be revealed as an alien as well. For the ending, Jon Peters the producer wanted a giant spider for some reason. When the movie fell apart, he moved that idea to Wild Wild West. We see how that turned out.
