I was 18. I love him differently now than I did then, but I've always loved him. The first few years were hard because although we loved each other, it wasn't a mature love. Love matures over time regardless of how old you are when you get married. I would marry him all over again, time and time again.
There never was a horse that couldn't be rode and there never was a cowboy that couldn't be throwed.

Teach; I think you know about Sandra and I, I think I shared it with you and Matthew and a couple of other LATE one night during one of our talk sessions at camp, but I'll share here, cause I love the story.
Sandra and I met for the 1st time on July 27th, 1985 at the Council Bluffs, Iowa CoGoP during state convention. We only spoke to each other casually during the convention. We did not even see each other again until September 5th of that year, when we had our first date. We dated three times, September 5,7, and 8, (don't even ask about the 6th). Then, we did not see each other again until October 5th. That night I asked her if she wanted to get married, She said yes. We married on November 29, 1985 just over 21 years ago... I was 22, and she was, well let's just say she was a little older. She had moved to Iowa with her family from Alabama, and I had come to "visit" my family that had moved to Iowa to pastor, after spending 2 years in Spain.
As others have already said, the best thing other than the love of Christ that has ever happened to me. I was truly blessed with a wonderful, beautiful, caring, and supportive BEST FRIEND and WIFE!
I know, I know, you didn't ask for all of that, but hey, like I said, I love the story!

I do remember that! man, that was a long time ago. I think it was at a minister's convention.

We married when I was 24, one month shy of 25. She was 17 1/2.
We dated for only three weeks when I ask her to marry me.
She said,"yes."
And, 34+ years, 3 kids and 2 grand kids we are still at it.
She is the best example of a christian of anyone I know.
She is my best friend, my lover, and my care giver when I'm sick.
I can't begin to tell you how much I still love her, and how truly blessed I am to have her.
Although, I don't know what she finds in me, to have stayed around for all these years.
If we make it to March 11 it will be 35 years.
"He that findeth a wife, findeth a good thing."
I am retired and she is still employed.
I do 99 % of the cooking and have a hot meal ready each evening when she gets home. I do a lot of the laundry, she does the cleaning. I make her coffee and bring it to her as she does her hair in the mornings
I think of the lines of the old song, "sweeter gets my journey everyday."
Oh, BTW, did I tell you We have 2 Grand kids? A 3 1/2 year old girl and a 3 month old boy. And they are wonderful!!
