Yet where is that same thoughts on Baptist (Black and otherwise) are willing to vote for obama in spite of the his stand of the murder of unborn children. I think we need to pull that log out of his eye before we start looking for splinters.

If you have followed Voddie's ministry, you would know that he is being consistent. He is stating what he has before about the roles of women and his belief about them. He is NOT trying to sway people to Obama, for goodness sakes!

Obviously you do not know his background. He is the pastor of a SBC church, NOT a "Black" church. He is more conservative than probably 95% of the people on this board.

Here are the links from his website for "Legal/Political". Hardly "liberal" or Obama-type links, and as you can see, the only political party link is for the Constitution Party.

Hit piece? Hardly. The man is stating his opinion, which is consistent with what he has stated before. If you care to search his writings/sermons, you will find this to be true. Or you can just wildly speculate as to his motives...

LEGAL/POLITICAL

I guess you need re read what I wrote, I never said I "followed his ministry" to be blunt I don't follow any mans (or womans) ministry. I have heard him preach a few times, I met he each of those times and had lunch with him and my brother in law (who is a Sou Bapt minister) it was VB and a Pastor of a Large SB Church here in the Ville my Brother in law and myself.

Say what you will about what he wrote, but I got the same link earlier from by Brother in law, And I am not the ONLY one who feels he has his OWN motives.

I never said he was a pastor of ANY specific color church and I asked where is his writings on people Baptist (black and other) who will vote for obama in spite of his stand of the murder of unborn Children. I never said he was not conservitive or that he was a bad man.

I read the blog and I got the view of what he was saying, I feel it was a hit piece and I am not the only one. If you don't that, it is your feelings. I don't feel the need to read every link on his page just to "understand where he is coming from" If his thoughts needed to backed up and clarified by his previous statements he should have put them in the blog.

OK, everyone has the right to their own opinion. All I am saying is that I have never read or heard anything he has ever said to indicate that he would consider voting for Obama.

You seemed to indicate (at least it seemed to me) that since he is black, he MUST be trying to steer people to Obama. I have never, ever heard such, in fact the opposite is true.

I don't know who the man will vote for. I suppose it will be whomever is running in the Constitution Party. All I got from his blog was that he feels like Palin should be a mother and wife first, and everything else second. He has said that before. That is all I am saying.

Maybe he said something during the lunch that influenced your opinion of him. I have just never heard it.

Is he saying that it is OK for a man to run for VP because it would be ok for a man not to be a Husband and father first?

who is to say (other than Voddie) that she is not and will not be a wife and mother first?

Many people all over the world work and have a very important job (men and women) who put their husband or wife and their faminly First.

To me that is what everyone should do, Love God, Love Family and then all the "stuff" will fall into place.

Maybe my lunch did color my view, but to me it felt like a hit job to justify a vote for a black man no matter his views. And your comments only make me feel more that way.

You have failed to answer this question. Where does Voddie write about so called Christians who would vote for anyone who anyone who believe it is ok to murder the unborn? And My Next Question What makes it right for a Man to put other things first in his life? I have heard him stand up about men not being apart of their kids lives, but now it appears he is backing of of that statement.

I guess the only way to fix this is to Vote for Single men and women for any office, Since they won't have any family to "get in the way"

Voddie's Response

Postby Steve » September 4th, 2008, 3:54 am

I emailed Voddie Baucham and gave him the last few exchanges in this thread. Here are his responses:

Voddie Baucham wrote:Steve,

Ironically, I have a link in one of my Palin blogs to another blog I wrote on Obama called, Barack Obama: A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing. In that blog I take on black religious leaders who support Mr. Obama in spite of his infanticide record. I am used to such slander and libel. I no longer expect people to do their homework before castigating me or my work.

Soli Deo Gloria!

Voddie B.

Here is the blog post about Mr. Obama.

Here are just a few snippets from that blog post:
Voddie's Blog wrote:Barack Obama is the most pro-abortion candidate ever to run for President. ...

I am absolutely amazed that at a time when Margaret Sanger’s Darwinian, Eugenics inspired dream of eliminating the poor, the lame, and the inferior races through targeted abortion is being propagated at record rates, black people still support the man who epitomizes her murderous philosophy....

This is absolutely astonishing! The only thing more astonishing is the fact that black clergymen in Philadelphia are supporting Mr. Obama. Then there is the consistent mantra from black supporters of America’s first bi-racial candidate... “I’m just happy to see a black man in this position.” Amazing! That’s like Hitler hiring a Jewish doctor (on his father’s side) to run the human experiments at Dachau and hearing the Jewish prisoners hail the fact that ‘one of their own’ has ascended to such great heights in the Nazi regime.

There is more there if you would like to take the time to read it.

He also said in a second email response:

Voddie Baucham wrote:Steve,
You may also want to point out my statement in my blog dated August 30th where I clearly say "Let me also say that I would have the same reservations about a man with five children at home seeking the VP office." Therefore, this gentlemen is reading only what he wants to read. He has it dead wrong on this one.

Soli Deo Gloria!

The following exerpt came from the blog found here which was included in the original post.

Voddie's Blog wrote:NOT A PRO FAMILY JOB

First, if Mr. McCain was pro-family, he would want to see Mrs. Palin at home taking care of her five children, not headed to Washington to be consumed by the responsibilities of being second in command to the most powerful man in the world (or serving as the Governor of Alaska for that matter). Let me also say that I would have the same reservations about a man with five children at home seeking the VP office. It’s not exactly a pro-family job.

As you can see, Mr. Baucham is quite clear on what he believes about Barak Obama. He is also consistent concerning his belief about families and time consuming jobs and their relation to families, whether the job is held by a woman OR a man.

I have gone to some trouble to reply to this, because I respect Voddie and his ministry. All this information was readily available, had you, TC, taken the time to research it a little.

It seems to me that you are very quick to dismiss this BLACK man. You brought up race in this discussion when it was not needed. Certainly some "black" churches are deceived by the dems, and that is sad, but for you to say that Voddie's blog was a "hit piece" to "get folks to vote for Obama" was absolutely wrong. I hope you see this now, although I bet you refuse to accept the evidence given, even from the guy's own mouth.

At the least, thanks for making me confirm that which I knew to be true.

Let's assume both the issues this minister brings forth are moral issues (moms in leadership & infanticide). If a vote for the GOP is putting a mother of 5 in the white house and a vote for the Dems (or the Constitution Party) puts an abortion activist in the white house, which is worse, or would you suggest they are moral equivalents?

Nice job Steve. It is amazing that so many people as evident by all the comments (not just you TC) on this thread alone feel that if you do not support their side then you are against them.

No matter what the topic is people feel that their side is the side that God is on. Sometime I wonder if the good and evil sides that God sees are anywhere near or resemble the things we call good and evil.

Nice thought. Reads the same as to me when the people say "I am voting for the lesser of two evils" Evil is evil. no matter how you framr it.

My point, actually, is that they are not moral equivalents. Even if both are evil, there is ample Biblical precedent that some things are more evil. IMO killing your baby is worse than having a nanny take care of your baby during the day. (oversimplification, I know)

I know that God says certian things are an abomination. (Cant recall them specifically right now but I know they are there) Where else does God show a specific difference in level of sins or evil? Honest question. I am clearly no bible scholar.

I don't have a lot of time, but let me answer it this way.

Throughout the OT, specifically Leviticus, you will notice that there are varying punishments for offenses to the law (i.e. some require death, some restitution, etc). You noted those abominations. Also see Prov. 6 as it refers to those things the Lord hates. OF course God hates all sin, but for some reason, it seems to read that there are those things that he particularly doesn't like. Luke 12:47,48 shows in the NT that some sins deserve a greater level of punishment. 1 Cor 6 refers to sins outside the body and sins against the body.

It's a start.
