Precious in the sight of the LORD

Leonard Kendrick and Linda Fontana were both welcomed into the portals of glory today.

I've known Brother Kendrick (Dadda) for about 35 years. He has been one of my heroes for at least that many years. I just talked with him yesterday morning.

He went to be with the LORD about 1 p.m. (EST) today...Funeral Arrangements are pending.


Linda Fontana has been a dear friend for many years. She is the wife of Norma Fontana, who served at Tomlinson College for many years. I remember staying in their home many years ago during the summer.

Linda died of a heart attack this morning.

The Peerless Road congregation has lost of their precious saints on the same day.

but PRECIOUS IN THE SIGHT OF THE LORD is the death of HIS saints...

Keep these families in your prayers.

But Brother Kendrick....what a GIANT of a man. Gave his entire life serving the Church of God of Prophecy...

No one has anything to say about either of them?

Viewing: 6-8 p.m. Friday

Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Ralph Buckner

Burial: 11 a.m. Monday at National Cemetery in Chattanooga. (Private for family only)

I did not know Sister Fontana, but my family and I loved Brother Kendrick very dearly. I have many fond memories of him. To name a few, the "Apple Uglies" he used to bring to class in BTI. How he love the Cornbread Chicken Dressing my wife made and asked us to bring him some to the Assembly so he could snack on it. The message he sent to the Missouri State Convention, when I was pastoring in Mo., it was sent via C.S. Pennington. This was just after his Heart Attack and he sent word that he would be alright, if he could just get some cornbread dressing. (Didn't mean a thing to anyone, except my wife and I.) It was the next Assembly that he received it. I could say much more, but I will close with the reality that heaven must be a wonderful place, especially now!

More than feeling shamed into commenting, I plead ignorant of these two people. Of course, I had Norman Fontana at TC but I never met his wife. I do recall him saying in class once during a discussion on abortion that if he had to choose between his wife dying in labor or having the baby taken but losing its life to spare his wife, that he'd choose his wife. Now, out of all the things that he ever said in a classroom I was in, this is the singular thing I remember (go figure). Why? Because I knew right there and then that the man seriously loved his wife. So, she must have been a tremendously loving person to have someone love her to the point he'd say that aloud in a classroom to a bunch of dumb kids who loved to retell things and got it wrong most of the time. I do know it is a loss for that family and my sympathies to and prayers for them all. I always respected Bro. Fontana.

Bro. Kendrick --- didn't know him. Knew who he was, but no personal knowledge. One of those guys that when you get to heaven you will probably enjoy a brief 200 year sit-down with him over some coffee at his mansion.

This has been especially hard on Curry. I am in Cleveland TN right now. I was with the family for about 30 minutes tonite...

This will be a difficult weekend.
