Tidbits of info from Billy n NC Desk in Greensboro

Postby Billy n NC » February 1st, 2010, 6:11 pm

If you go to Google Maps and do a search

West Wendover Ave, Greensboro, NC

It will give you a map of exit 214 on I40
This exit is one exit up from the primary assembly hotel site.

If you look at the map and move it around you can see quite a few hotels that located there. Lots of shopping and restaurants also.

If you go west on I40 up to exit 210 (hwy 68 ) There are a lot of hotels located on google maps also.

they even have photos and telephone numbers listed.

Just a bit of info.

How many delegates do you expect at the GA? The last time I attended, it was the last one in Louisville. I attended Brother Howard's mission program and there was not 200 people in the building. Is this typical now? Does COGOP disclose the # of delegates that attend the assembly now? Does anyone know the # of delegates at the last assembly? If this is how it is, then why are COGOP members not going to the assembly?

i think you all will really like greensboro. I live here as well. If you have questions about hotels just ask all the reps that come and ride with me stay at certain hotels. Fairfield marriot is good and they have a good breakfast.
I think you will really like it though.I plan to stop in during the day time from time and also some at night. I know the state convention had a LOT of attendance so i think that COGOP will have more attendance this year being in NC... I could be wrong but NC, VA, TN have always been big number states fro cogop and TCOG.

I worked as an usher at all the assemblies since the last one in Louisville, and there has been much more than 200 people at all of them, I can't speak for the attendance at that specific missions program, but I can speak for the main services and business meetings, those were very well attended, although I do not know specific counts.

Reservations for the upcoming Assembly have gone very well. As a result, we have contracted with a few more hotels.

For a complete listing, go to http://cogop.org/416569.ihtml.

Bro Billy, I am hoping maybe you can help me....regarding the area for the Assembly.... I am trying to decide whether or not I am coming to the Assembly... (your probably going to think I am nuts for asking but...) Is any of the areas around the Assembly site not very safe... My reason for asking is I will be traveling alone and while looking for a cheaper hotel I noticed some of the reviews mentioned "they didn't feel safe"... So, I was just curious if you would know...

Cndlou, sorry for the delay in getting back to this post. I had not seen it till tonight. I will be glad to help you out.

As far as safe goes. I live in the area that the IGA will be held. The host hotel parking is joined with our Mall parking lot. The Greensboro Coliesuem is about 1 mile away.

If you will post the hotel you are looking at I will drive by and check it out personally for you. May even take a photo of it.

Let me know How I can help.

Cndlou..I have no personal knowledge of Studio 6 but a good friend of mine, his family and several folks from his church are staying there.

They are like loft apartments with 2 bathrooms, kitchen, etc...He's paying 1/2 of what the Sheraton was going to cost him. His wife checked it out last week and said that they are spotless and have been completely remodeled.

Hope this helps.
