I've never been under this one.

I came from the CoG, didn't see the CoGoP as a problem, and all the others are just there, nothing personal, don't understand where some of the teachings come from, but hey I've seen worse.

It's easy to dispute and laugh about rebellion, but the theivery is well documented as well as the lies to justify it.

Sounds like your organization is quite a different church than the one Jesus established. I doubt they would have stolen things so brazenly, but such is the unteachability of the self righteous where even theft and lies are condoned in support of their righteousness.

Yes,

but I don't limit my answer just to 2 specific denominations. Normally, if I see a thread is about that, I'll just hit the back button, or go back to reading something that really interests me..... like sports.

Yes, but you always take the time to make a post saying that you are not interested in the topic before you hit that back button.

gotta jump in here... isn't the COGOP itself a splinter? aren't we all splinters and factions? I have to assume you are talking about more than just the flag issue.

who attempted theft with the COGOP flag and then lied about it ("We thought they werent using it.")
now this part is a valid issue :) I suppose in context, if this is the ONLY thing that makes them rebellious and stiff necked, then okay. I disagree, but hay could be. :)

Are we arguing over the flag that some consider merely a piece of cloth.

Some say we don't need it.. some say burn it. Some ridicule it. Some say get rid of it and use the "Christian flag."
And now an argument insues over it.

Question: Are we jumping on this so much because we've been there, done that? It takes one to know one, etc?
At some point in the past if some of us were part of CoGoP pre- certain dates we had to have identified with or at least understood the same ideas. So why don't we extend grace and let God bring them around the same way He brought us? (..just a thought!)
..I press on to take hold of that
for which Christ took hold of me.

Amen. That's how God led me out of TCOG. It wasn't a crass demeanor or stinging words from attack like posts.

Now, I'm not saying discussion and debate is not helpful. It is. I am saying such is more effective and conducive to "growing in knowledge" if it is not reduced to fleshly banter and ridicule.
