I would have no problem using qualified people regardless of which denomination they hang their membership on.

Same here. I think it would also serve to help the COGOP in a way to get a different viewpoint, of how another denomination or organization runs their camp. Both parties could feed ideas off each other and it would benefit everyone involved, IMHO.

No, they don't count. They think people from North Georgia are outsiders (KBEvangelist being the notable exception). I dated a girl from South Georgia once. Won't go into it here, but I found out real quick that I needed to run, not walk from that situation!!!

if someone would not set foot in a local cogop, but wants the benefits of state youth camp ministry. should they be allowed to be on staff. i am nottalking about having a guest preacher. i am talking about someone staying with your children 24 hours a day doing unsupervised devotions on a day to day basis. cabin leaders and support staff that does and would not attend cogop. and everyone from alabama. 8)

The answer is yes. If you have people who are faithful Christians and members of a church that doesn't happen to be cogop, then why should they not be allowed to work in a cogop camp? Is the cogop still that exclusive? The cog/ag/etc. have fine camps that are staffed by fine Christian people. Why should those people not be allowed at a cogop camp? What if they are invited by the directors because they are friends? What if they are related to a cogop pastor?

When I was going to my second or third trip to camp as a youth, my cogop pastor drove me to camp. He spent time there working in the kitchen for the week. He hung out with me, played some softball with us, showed us attention, etc. He was a fine man - at least he appeared that way. He was cogop through and through...except that during this time he was having a relationship with a prostitute. This was discovered months later, he was disfellowshipped and eventually came back to make restitution in front of the church.

If you ask me today, I would tell you I would have rather had anybody but him working in that camp that week - no matter what denominational affiliation they had.

i agree with you. my question is why would you want to be apart of cogop youth camp and not a local cogop?

Maybe you were invited to work the camp from a cogop friend who knew you to be a good person, great motivator, talented minister to youth, etc. Maybe you see an opportunity to impact the lives of children and see God work in their lives. Maybe you are broadening your horizons by thinking outside of denominational barriers.

A lot of local cogops are small, family churches. A lot of cogops do not have ministries that reach all ages. Some people are not willing to go to the local cogop just because it's the only one in town. Some people want more than some of these churches have to offer. Why should the camping ministry not accept someone like that?

well having just gotten back from camp, our evangelist currently attends a AoG, another staff currently attends a CoG, they have been in the CoGoP in the past, and just happen to be grounded somewhere else right now, they are gifted and willing ministers and were a great addition to our staff.

We have to get past the point of focusing on the sign over the door.

Now this may not be the question you are asking, if this is someone who is not faithful to any home church, or is spending time working against the organization in some way (reading between the lines on that one) then no, they shouldn't be working.

No, they don't count. They think people from North Georgia are outsiders (KBEvangelist being the notable exception). I dated a girl from South Georgia once. Won't go into it here, but I found out real quick that I needed to run, not walk from that situation!!!

Thank you Dajudge!!!

Being from South Georgia I can count, numerically and my opinions count as well. However, now I am in NC and the other south Georgia boys will have to fend for themselves.

But wouldn't you know a TN fan would say we didnt count>
