My worst experience with a funeral song was when the father of a lady who attends my church died. Her mom and dad had been divorced for many years but he never got over it...The mom had married the man she left her husband for...The kids and grandkids all dislike the new husband very much.

The very last song they played was George Jones', "He stopped loving her today"...I wanted to crawl under the seat when I saw the look on the mom's face...She was totally blindsided.
It's harder to kidnap fat people!

I went to a funeral where they played a song "Prop me up by the jukebox when I die" by Joe Diffie
Acts 6:4 (KJV)
But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

I visited with a relative of a member once in the hospital right after she had a light stroke, It was great, she committed her life the the Lord. But, she eventually had several more strokes (she was a lifetime diabetic) and passed away. I was asked to preach the funeral (Graveside service only).

To make a long story short after the short service and the funeral directors sharing that they would need a couple hours to do their thing and then the family could come back. One daughter stayed seated and started talking in just a few seconds, fists were swinging, chairs were flying.

I was talking to a distant relative and said, I was never taught what to do in a situation like this. The person told me "Leave!" These people carry guns. So, I left. It was quite a site!!!
