Thanks for all the prayers, and we ask that you continue. The past couple of days she has not rested well at night. So she is sleeping a lot during the day to rest. The swelling is going down, and she has a nice black eye. Her mouth is very sore, and it's tough trying to find something she can eat.

We go to UK on Tuesday to see what our next step is. She has decided that she does not want to attend school and the school is working with us for homebound.

Again, thanks for your prayers and remember Anita and I.

The latest on Lauren

Postby Rob » October 13th, 2009, 4:40 pm

We took Lauren back to UK today. The Oral Surgeon informed us that instead of a fractured upper gum it was shattered, so much so that it looked like "corn flakes". (Don't think I will be eating those anytime soon. ). He removed a dead piece of bone that was exposed, and informed us that the gums looked like they were healing very well. However, there was so much damage done it will be 4-6 more weeks before implants can be done. Please continue to remember her in pray and her mom and I as we walk this journey with her.

Blessings,

Pastor Rob

Rob, as a dad of a daughter, I know you would probably rather go through it yourself than have to see Lauren suffer. Prayers for her recovery and for strength for the family supporting her.

Rob,

I waited a few days before sharing this. My nephew had a go-cart wreck when he was 7. It was a homemade sort of thing and the brakes didn't work on it well. He drove it under the back end of his grandfather's pickup truck going pretty well full speed. Shattered his skull. That night at the hospital, the doctors were uncertain that he would survive and if he did, what would be the long term harm. People began praying. I can remember my mother in law, bless her heart, praying in the waiting room right there in Huntsville Hospital. Very, very loudly. But, man, I'll tell you what, she prayed with authority. Everybody in that room got quiet and I don't mean maybe. She was serious with God.

"WE DON'T ACCEPT THIS!" she prayed. I'll always remember that. Oh, the moaning and crying and worry and carrying-on that went on not only then but in the days and weeks later. But, Will (the nephew), steadily and quickly improved. Not only did he survive, he healed very very well. He had to wear one of those eggshell-skull helmets for a while. Then, he progressively did what all little boys do. Today, he's a Marine. He's an accomplished guitarist who had a scholarship for it. He's a handsome and rugged guy, 27 years old (which is hard to believe as I sit here and think of it). Nice kid.

So, if I can be a little bold myself in prayer, I'll say with you, "we don't accept this." I pray for Lauren, that she'll heal as quickly as Will did. That not only will the doctors make good decisions, but that her own healing will witness to them that God is real and faithful and true, and that you and your wife and your family will be amazed and made stronger by God's strong hand on her.

PG, I have sat and cried my eyes out the last week, wishing it was me and not Lauren. I have "what if'ed" myself to death. During this whole ordeal, Lauren has been a trooper and I have been so proud of her.

Dolfan, thanks so much for sharing that, Lauren has been blessed thus far that the accident was not worse than what it was, God was with her. We found out last week, that although Lauren had a Grade 3 concussion, there was no brain swelling or blood that showed up on her CT scan.

As for the Dr's at UK you normally get the "residents" who are working their way to a practice. We have had the head over the "residents" in both the oral surgeon and pediactric dentistry. The Lord has been looking out after Lauren I must say.

Again, thanks for your prayers, and we are watching the hand of God in all of this.

Here's the latest on my daughter Lauren. We went back to the Oral Surgeon yesterday and the had to remove another piece of bone from her gum. However, the rest of it is healing very nicely. We went to Ped's Dentist and they told us also that the gum was healing very well.

We go back on November 12, at which time they are hopeful that her gum will be healed enough to do an impression. If so, then before Thanksgiving she will get her temporary implants.

Continue to pray that her gum will heal enough to do the impression at our next visit.

Again, thanks for all your prayers.

Blessings,

Pastor Rob
