how does being a jerk and cocky make a coach overrated?

why does it matter if tebow cries in public or in private? i like the fact that he doesnt let people like you guys who nitpick his every move to death bother him.

he has a bright future no doubt, whether that be in pro-football or not. there are so little GOOD quarterbacks in the nfl, tebow could play for a handful of teams.

there is no way tebow will be an nfl qb!! maybe for a year before he is dropped or moved to TE.

the point of linking tebow to urban is this. urban is a ego manaic and tebow is best buds with him. urban will be overrated untill he proves he can coach a non tebow team in the sec. urban is a jerk. (known fact). so why is tebow such great pals if he is a great guy and all?

I personally think he will be. That is my opinion. It may not happen the first year he is drafted, but I do believe he will play QB in the NFL.

In a recent game in Starkville, MS a relative was security and stated that they had never seen the personal craziness that surrounded Tebow.

He had personal security guards like the President that protected and ushered him in and ushered him personally out to private transportation as the rest of the players followed his security detail.

Also honored was one of our local MS Highway Patrol Officers dispatched to pick up and personally attend to his parents as they arrived at the Airport, to the game and back to the airport.

Amazing the special treatment you get because you are good with a football. Then we wonder why so many go off the deep end.

The message? Forget about academics... get your kids enrolled in gym early. If they are successful you will be considered a genius and praised by $$ millions.

That's why I say this guy is partly a product of circumstance. He's young, he lacks maturity because of that fact (even if he does have some perspective on the needs of others, which I am certain he does have for one so young), and he's been made Tebow-the-brand.

I find it personally instructive about the power of celebrity that just as Tebow is reaching this attention-getting point of ending his college career, we see the very public undoing of Tiger Woods --- a young man who, from his amateur success, was commoditized by a public bent on consuming him and rewarding him for it. I don't justify anything Woods is doing at all --- far from it. But, I can see where he was deceived by the public reaction to his own success in sport. Tim Tebow's blessing in disguise may be that he's not to football what Tiger has been to golf. Five to seven years from now (or sooner), we will fondly recall Tebow's college days and enjoy his appearances on ESPN Game Day, I believe.

I'll take that bet

If Tim wants to be an NFL QB he can be and will be given ample opportunity.

I'll point to the following NFL QB's and you tell me why they are and Tim Tebow can't be.

Derek Anderson Cleveland
Brady Quinn Cleveland
Trent Edwards Buffalo
AJ Feeley Carolina
Rex Grossman houston (whom I like and helped lead the Bears to a SuperBowl)

Tarvaris Jackson Minnesota
Sage Rosenfels Minnisota
Chris Simms Denver
Charlie Whitehurst San Diego

There are dozens more that have roster spots and have taken snaps that cannot measure up to Tebow in character or performance. Is he as good as Joe Montana, Tom Brady, Brett Favre, Terry Bradshaw, etc. Only time will tell.

Danny, Jamais Vu, teach,
You all are missing the point here. Dawgs10 is not distorting the facts when he states his opinion about Tim Tebow and Urban Meyers, he is simply ignoring them.
After all they are HIS opinions, and we all KNOW that he is a highly qualified expert, with years of coaching experience behind him.

It isn't that he can't be a QB in the NFL, it is that he won't be.
No one is going to draft a guy that is likely to be a Tavarius Jackson and pay him a guy that is likely to be a Brady Quinn kind of money. Brady Quinn got a fantastic deal, and hasn't earned much of it. Exh. A is Derek Anderson, who is so great (yyyyeah, right) that Quinn holds a clipboard most of the time. The Browns will probably pick Jake Locker, Sam Bradford or Jimmy Clausen in the draft with their very early pick. Tebow is projected to go in the 2nd round (or, the Jags may take him....they need the ticket sales, which will only delay their move to Los Angeles). He'll get a shot at QB, but almost every single trusted scouting source says he'll have to switch positions. Mechanically, he's nowhere near an NFL QB. He's spent his whole career taking snaps way more in the shotgun than from under center. His throwing motion is long, low and slow --- he'll be eaten alive. POSSIBLY, three or four years from now if he's willing to sit and get a thorough reworking of his whole player-self, he MIGHT do it. Otherwise, we'll see him blocking from the backfield as a FB or catching throws across the middle as a TE. IMO.

You know I almost agree! I would hope he would be given a opportunity at QB. But still think it will be a total different that his accomplishments in the college game. But he can't be any worst that some on this list

Speaking of Brady Quinn, how about that Monday night game. Looks like Big Ben will be watching the playoffs with the Browns this year.... :D

Everyone who thinks that Tebow was crying because they LOST the game needs to watch last year's NC game again. I seem to remember a QB crying after his team WON the game. Wait a minute....OMG his name was TEBOW!!!!

most of all the qb with the exception of tarvaris jackson maybe are all drop back passing qb's that have a strong enough arm to put the ball where it needs to go. tebows arm is not what an nfl qb should be. am i the only one that sees the ducks he throws. he will not be able to out run linebackers in the nfl. no nfl coach with any guption will change his offense to fit him. sorry, he will not.

Steelers bite this season RR. I can't explain it. Beat Minnesota, Denver, San Diego but then lose to the worst teams in the league (KC, Oakland, and the Browns).

Lots of folks said Favre wasn't NFL caliber even the Falcons and yet he holds the records in how many categories?

Now I'm not saying Tebow will be a great NFL QB BUT he will get a shot if he wants one and getting drafted in later rounds often pays more in the long run.
