We gave up our land line a year ago. We have AT&T (being purchased by Cingular). Whatever company you go with, make sure your phone is GSM, if it is available. The connections are great. In emergencies, the authorities can find you within a few feet. Our reception has been flawless. We pay around $100/mo for a shared plan with 900 anytime minutes, free nights and weekends with nights beginning at 7:00 p.m., free mobile to mobile with AT&T customers. We don't even miss the home phone.
