I don't think we should remove post counts, but I do think it's a big waste of time to sit there and start a whole new topic on how many posts you have left until you reach a certain number, then you keep posting the numbers you have until you reach that number.

Then again you could just be like me and ignore what you consider to be useless posts and mark them as "read."

There's always a way around

Just my opinion, Shellie, but I find the two statements below which you made to be irreconcilable and indicative of the greater reality.

It, as Dwayne said earlier, subjective - or, rather, a matter of opinion. As I have told you in a PM I choose to read what I want to read and to ignore the rest.

Said to Rambo...
I fight the desire to just delete your post because of attitude and insult.

Said to Doilooklost...
Stay just the way you are and post just the way you post.

If attitude and insult are worthy of deleting then this message board would be a whole lot smaller! :D

Also, our benevolent dictator has added his thoughts and not, at least openly, displayed offense at Rambo...

So, I would say to you that you should lighten up... 8)

Just so you'll know ..........I love the post count! I love to know that I am making progress in any area possible! Don't you dare leave that off. I would go into deep dark depression if I couldn't see some progress in at least one area of my life! Sheesh! Some people try to take away all vestiges of importance to others. I NEED the post count. As a practicing OC (obsessive compulsive) and proud of it, I only post for the count. Nothing I say has much significance to it anyway. You talk of meaningless posts.......wow could I bring some of that stuff up! Meaningless posts........I mean, come on.

I just spent 5 minutes of my time that I can never recover Responding to a meaningless thread! For Pete's sake Rambo...........let us have our count! I bet you know how many paintball tournaments you have won! Some of us neeeeeed this ..............

I agree with Beaver on this one. And, quite frankly, don't start a thread to tell me you reached 500 posts. I can see that info under your avatar just fine without you pointing it out.

That being said, I like the post counts. It does give some incentive to participate more often, and a message board is nothing if the members don't contribute.

And Rambo, I love you bro, but you are the last person to be talking about frivolous post count enhancing posts (hehehe).

And I do say that out of love Rambo, because you are a valuable member of this board, in my eyes.

You are entitled to your opinion as we all are. My opinion was that Rambo was insulting people's intelligence over something silly.

It, as Dwayne said earlier, subjective - or, rather, a matter of opinion. As I have told you in a PM I choose to read what I want to read and to ignore the rest.

I'm not sure why you are telling me this.

I can't pick and choose what I want to read as I am a moderator and must read it all. As an observer, Rambo's insult was over the line. As a moderator, I chose not to let my moderator status be swayed by my personal opinion.

Said to Rambo...

I fight the desire to just delete your post because of attitude and insult.

Said to Doilooklost...
Quote:
Stay just the way you are and post just the way you post.

These words to these two are not contradictive in that doilooklost's posting has not turned nasty toward other people. Playing and frivolous posting are within the guidlines of posting...insulting people for pouting sake usually is not.

So, I would say to you that you should lighten up...

Obviously, you have not been around long enough to know me. What I said was light.

What part of "freewheeling " don't you understand Hogwild? We have a good time here. That's why I keep coming back and have passed the ? mark? I can't even remember........but it's more than 1000!!!!!!!!

Thanks be unto our most high and lifted up benevolent dictator and island captive!

Again, it's all a matter of opinion... I'm not sure the appropriate response to what is considered rude and insulting is commentary that is close to being the same...

And, as you point out, I have not been around very long... However, I've seen enough in Rambo's post to like what he has to say...

I didn't find his comments rude and insulting... I did, however, find yours to be that way...

So can we agree to disagree?

Dr. Ron,

If it's all about freewheeling and expressing your opinion without much retribution, why am I catching grief for doing the same?

I thought I was having a good time! LOL!

I'm sorry that I have apparently crossed some sort of invisible line...

I did not and do not intend to anger people on this board. It is a momentary place of sanity and peace in my very hectic day and week. I'd hate to think that I had hurt anyone.

I was just expressing my opinion and was having fun.

Again, I am sorry...

OK, I feel like my posts last night spun this into motion. If I offended anyone, I am sorry. I was only doing what I had seen in the past. Guess I will be more selective with my posts in the future.

Geez....could we find something really important to discuss here? I mean post counts are earth shattering and is worthy of three pages, don't you think?

Hog Wild,

Let me first tell you why my feathers were ruffled. Rambo wrote this:

I see that it is apparently beyond comprehension.

He wrote this to a young lady that has NEVER been anything but sweet, fun, and uplifting on this board. She did NOT deserve such a comment and I was NOT going to let him slide.

If you find me rude for not letting him slide on rudeness then so be it. And if you don't find rude what he said unwarranted to her then so be that also. That is your perogative.

I am not angry at you and I am not hurt at you. I am simply me and that is how I handle things.

Now, while we continue to go back and forth our post counts are rising. If we quit someone else will pass us in post count and we will drop in importance. I don't want to lose my post count because it is what I live for and it is on my mind 24/7. Therefore, I will continue to post, but I sure would like it to be on another thread.

Shellie,

I feel compelled to respond to your post not to refute anything but to increase my own post count :D ...

I understand why you said what you did toward Rambo.. I honestly took his statement more as a generalized frustration for not being understood rather than a rude remark directed at one particular individual...

Also, a momentary post from Daniel appeared and now has disappeared - did I imagine that or did black unmarked helicopters swoop in and steal it away?
