was my response and answer just too long?

I have been accused of writing "book posts", boring posts, TLDR (too long, didn't read) posts, but this is a first for being accused of manure posting. :)

I had thought of that when I replied above, but left it open since I didn't want to put words in his mouth that he didn't actually say. :)

I grew up in the Assembly of God, and I never felt the wedding ring was a symbol of pride. It was a symbol of the love and commitment you were making to your spouse. I love my husband, and I like for people to know that I am committed to him and only him. I don't take that committment lightly...it's forever. When I started going to COGOP, I couldn't believe that they didn't wear wedding rings to show their committment.

I think people may be offended at what you said about the wedding ring being a hunk of metal. To many...it's more than that...a LOT more. What if someone had called the American flag a ratty piece of cloth? That would be offensive to many because of what it symbolizes to them.

By the way...have a Merry Christmas!! And you and your family are in our prayers. God bless you.

prepare for a joke people

I think the wedding dress is vain, and the veil, and also the vows. Good grief our first example is 2 naked people and one said she is bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh. Let's get rid of the dress, the ceremonial hoopla, the showy vows, etc. go out into the garden, put on your birthday suit, and say what Adam said. Shoot, let's turn this into a doctrine and start a new religious movement while we are at it.

I believe the expression you were looking for is "intestinal fortitude" as in having "guts" i.e, intestinal fortitude. You kind of hit another region

NO, I think he meant exactly what he typed.

He was giving the "holy" way of saying "someone grow some ball". If you are going to refer to it....say it ...otherwise...leave it alone.

The whole arguement of this "vanity" issue is ludicrious. And yes I know I preached it too.....and was wrong too.

We all carried that explanation to an extreme because we had no bible to back up our claims.

Good grief ...get a life and leave this alone. May as well wear black and get a horse and buggy. You can carry all this too far....and this is.

My 82 year old mother got her ears pierced and has a NICE set of wedding rings....and I guarantee her spirituality is not diminished .

I wear a ring b/c I want to. And I take a lot of fussing because of it.

I never asked for this ring, he gave it to me, after we were married, I did not even know he had it.

That will be "THE" Birthday Suit Church of God with emphasis on the capital T, thank you very much!!! The Bare "one and onlies". Although founded in a garage in 2007 it is the very same church Jesus founded in AD 33. Reorganized in 1923. Re-re-organized in 1993. We promise 2007 will be the last "jump start". And if you believe that, we are also running some great offers on the London Bridge.

Not really. Following the "old paths" requires that the first incarnation be BSCOG. The second incarnation would then the BSCOGOP. THEN, and only then, can "THE" be invoked for the final and true BSCOG to be forever known as TBSCOG with a membership of 99 who are waiting for the ONE lost sheep ("other", that is) to join them for the rapture.
God Bless You

So true. Or you could always join the Assemblies of God. They don't have the Assemblies of God of Prophecy and "THE" Assembly of God.

..... or the (Homer) Assemblies of God World Headquarters NY or the Jerusalem Acres Assemblies of God

Ahh, but my black will be darker and my white brighter than everyone else's. My horse will be the most powerful and my buggy will be pimped. of course, I'll remove my rings, earrings and necklace so I can be the most holy.
