Omitting information that would validate your ability to speak with knowledge on a subject, is deception. Stating "facts" that will never be substantiated is deception. Deception is a lie!

When you get right down to it, deception is the only weapon that Satan has. I fail to see how a "Christian" can use that weapon and still claim to be acting in a Christ-like manner.

I have seen plenty of hurt and anger displayed by both sides. It truly is a two-way street. Personally I wish that everyone could leave this in the past and get on with Jesus commandment to preach the gospel to the world. Far to much energy has gone into this spat between your denominations, energy that should have gone to spreading the Gospel of Christ, not the doctrines written by men.

As far as deception goes I still have no idea how you get that. At least some who are paying attention reconized that i said im sorry if it came across that way. I have not heard you say hey im in so and so church.... When I stated im an outsider I am an outsider. I am not a member of COGOP and outsider looking at the comments being displayed. I also posted some things that gave a few a perfect idea who I was, if I was hiding that why would I do that? I can talk in such a different manner and nobody would never know me. You think I didnt know stevenson , wendy, chris etc would not know me. I was trying to make a point. Keep it going as long as you would like again I apologize for doing anything that seemed decieving, I did not mean so. If you want me to say hey you win. Sure ,whatever to end your offense, ok. I have done all I can.

Now I agree all division immediately hinders the salvation of souls. It angers me and I sure hope things like this did not happen. SO did the early church. But the truth is it does and the enemy will always do things and decieve man for one goal, to prevent the lost from being saved.
Methodist have had the same problem, episcopal's have and still are and numerous other groups. enough of that though. Except my apology or not, I cant make ya

Thanks for correcting your post about the billboard.

No problem as I said it was not my intent to hurt anyone. I mis understood the story, take into consideration I was told that years ago and should not have said it anyway

Do you mean the 90"s?

By answering that I feel I might be throwing myself in the pit again but I will try my best without others demanding an explanation. 8)
No I meant the mid 70's all the way to the 1993.

I have no anger toward anyone in any group, and beleive me, it will take more than what you've posted to upset me.

I thank you for that. I also appreciate your kind spirit :D

Humbly accepted, at least you have enough wisdom & respect to say I'm sorry, I can respect & apprecaite that.

Thanks again. I am never above apologizing. Nobody should be. I hope everyone sees that I am being as honest hearted as I can. I know there is hurt on all sides and my family experienced severe hurt that has never healed. Way before 1990. But you see it was men, not all people who caused the hurt. I am smart enough to understand that

Why hint that you know "where the bodies are buried", so to speak?

Because im an idiot

one love,

Please bear with me for one last post on this thread.

As far as deception goes I still have no idea how you get that.

I will try to explain. If we were discussing the Muslim religion, and there was a Muslim that was a member of the board, would you consider them to be an outsider (as far as that thread was concerned)? I think not. The same principal applies with your case, the discussion was about TCOG, and you being TCOG would for the purpose of that discussion place you directly in the middle of the discussion, not on the outside looking in. In some aspect I am an insider, in others I am an outsider, one has to apply the terms relative to the discussion.

At least some who are paying attention reconized that i said im sorry if it came across that way.

I have been paying attention, and I realize that you now understand and regret that what you wrote could be misunderstood.

I have not heard you say hey im in so and so church....

My church affiliation is listed it my post in Roll Call. However since you have brought it up I will give you a brief history of my spiritual journey. I was raised in a Seventh Day Adventist family. At 17 years of age I not only walked away from that organization, I ran, as fast and as far as I could. After a long and extensive study of the major religions of the world, none of which impressed me very much, I engaged in a study of the ancient religions. I became a Druid Priest, and practiced that until God was able to work in my life to bring me home. I was saved in a fairly large independent church in Nashville, and remained a member of that church until God led me to an outreach ministry that I became involved in. Through that ministry I became a member of the Smyrna Assembly of God. That my friend is why I can claim to be an outsider as far as this thread is concerned.

If you want me to say hey you win. Sure ,whatever to end your offense, ok. I have done all I can.

Why does it have to be that one or the other of us wins? We can both win, if we try to understand one another.

Except my apology or not, I cant make ya

Accepted, and I am sorry that I misinterpreted your posts.

On a personal note, I would like to see you hang around for awhile.

Smyrna Assembly of God.

Is that Johnny Minick's church or the other one in Smyrna?

stevenson,

Johnny Minick's church is The River of Life Assembly of God, The Smyrna Assembly is just down the road about a mile. The close proximity does not seem to have hurt either church as both are probably around 6 to 8 hundred in attendance every Sunday.

Probably

I think that is due to focus.

For so long we were internally focused.

Winning souls and discipleship were secondary to hoping that a good church family moved to town or came from a different church.

We have a church in our state that had a group leave and go right across the street and build a much larger church. It was mindset rather than doctrinal as we were led to believe.

A change in mindset brought revival to the original church. It can happen anywhere. There are enough people not going to any church to build many more churches than what we already have.

That is much different than a new marketing scheme of "We are the real thing" or "live your best life now" drawing church people away from one church to a different church.
What we need here is a good revival! lol

May I add that both are very different. On one hand you have a very charismatic congregation and ministry that looks like things I have seen on TV, things that Gerald posts about (you go Gerald), and on the other hand you have an "artsy" (words of a member) congregation and ministry that closes down charismatic gestures and frowns upon such (not that I have a problem with that). The two churches are both part of the AoG but are quite different.

Postby Dr. Ron » November 24th, 2007, 11:47 am

Okay, One Love and all the rest of you....
I have stayed out of all this for various reasons.

One Love....I was a state overseer in COGOP during the concerned "up-rising" and left after they did. I have been on this board for a while now with over 2000 posts....

I can tell you that I have challenged been challenged argued been argued at...been hit over the head a couple of times and hit some a few times....but I can tell you that no one hates you, we will all embrace YOU not your doctorine...cause not one of us agrees with the others all the time.

You will be loved here but you will always be challenged.....you will not be coddled, spoon fed, nor just merely tolerated....and trust me ....there have been those who have made more noise than you are capable of ..making!!!     I assure you of that.

Just know that if you make a broad statement, obscure statement, or the like, you will be called to task on it..

Personally, I think all of you are nuts for even being in a denom!!!!!

FREEDOMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!! That's where it's at...bro!!!

God bless and I hope you understand my sarcasism and attempts at jockularity.... We will all love you better than the group you are with.

And that was when I started questioning more and more. It was the red flag that people were protecting something fragile. I would get comments that it is wrong to question God. Then I read David, Job, etc.

God isn't afraid of us questioning things. Man sure is.

One Love;

In an earlier post you made a statement I would like to give some information about. You asked a question “are you going to say that the COGOP, COG used to teach salvation any other way other than repentance? Show me.

In the first place, any religious organization that claims that they, alone, are “THE” Church of God (which was in the past taught by both churches), by virtue of that belief alone, are teaching salvation by “other than repentance.” I say this because according to New Testament scripture, everyone who accepts Christ as Savior and Lord becomes a member of His body which is His Church and will be a part of His Bride. So if a religious organization is teaching that one must join that particular church in order to be in God’s Church, they are teaching salvation cannot be obtained through repentance and the new birth.

To show this as a teaching of the COGOP we can read from a book written by MA Tomlinson “The Glorious Church of God” pages 92&93: “The Church offers no criticism to those who are preaching salvation, but even after those people have been born again, they still must hear the message of the church……The plan of salvation is not the full gospel. Jesus also established the Church of God and gave it the responsibility to gather in one body the children of God. The plan for the divine Church is part of the “all things” taught by Jesus and the “full gospel” includes the message of the Church of God, the Body of Christ…..Any doctrine or outline that does not include the message of the All Nations Church of God is not the “full gospel,”…..the full or complete gospel was committed to the church,…. only the Church can preach the full gospel.”….”Many who claim to be “full gospel” do not know anything about the Church. They have not received the revelation of the Church of God, hence they are not preaching the full gospel”.

This same doctrine was taught by AJ Tomlinson as overseer of COG, which I could also show from his writings, but don’t want to make this too lengthy.

Note: this is not meant to start another confrontation, just wanted to add this to the thread.

I have almost all the books written. Not all but almost. Now I totally disagree with this sentiment. Salvation is repentance alone. TCOG and all other factions have always taught that. NOBODY says being a member of TCOG brings salvation. Therefore this arguement is of none effect. To say God has one church and that all Gods people will be in unity before the rapture does not imply if you repent today you are not saved unitl you join the church. So in essence again salvation in our teachings is repentance. By that you are in the kingdom of God. Tell me how that states you will not go to heaven or that you are not saved. That is what salvation is deliverance. Implying we are the church of the Bible is to say yes we are the Body of Christ and all christians (that does mean you would have to be saved prior to joining) will be united into one fold. Now some can not figure out the uniting of his people so they think this is absurd or they imply we will be united in heaven. But the word does not say that.
I will post more about this later

So yes we believe in exclusivity which has nothing to do with salvation, you must be saved to join the church

Thought I would add this. This is our posted belief on this matter

Repentence
Repentance is the act of turning from and forsaking sin. Read Mark 1:15; Luke 13:3; Acts 3:19.

Justification
Justification is a state and an act. It is the state of being void of offense toward God by the act of God's forgiveness of the transgressions for which one has repented. See Romans 5:1-9; Titus 3:7.

Regeneration
Regeneration is an act of God performed in the justified heart whereby new, spiritual life is generated. See Titus 3:5. Regeneration is simultaneous with the new birth. Also see, Matt. 19:28.

Born Again
To be born again is to become a new creature in Christ and a child of God. This new birth is the result of repentance, justification and regeneration and is accompanied by a definite inner witness. See John 3:3; 1 Peter 1:23; 1 John 3:9. The new birth is a prerequisite for the experience of sanctification.
where does it say you have to be a member? hmmm I missed it somewhere
