The recent events surrounding Pastor Sam's Want Ad and the "proper forum" issue leads to this poll.

Is this a "should I let the muddy shoed passenger change my radio station" Poll?

I voted the third choice. I like the separate forums but it does not bother me to find a doctrinal ..etc post in the general forum area. \\
People have different viewing habits. Me when I come to J2 I click on the New Post since last login button. It brings up the new posts. does not matter which forum it was posted in. Most of the time I do not even notice.
There are post that get posted that do not gleam a lot of comments . they come and they go away to other pages of the general forum. But those that do get shall I say heavy comments or posts,, those should be moved to a specialized forum for people who are searching for info on a subject can narrow the search down. Hope this makes since.
Now as far as users getting there Drawers in a WAD because there post got filed into a different, proper forum. GET OVER IT. A bit of organization does everyone good.

Misplaced posts don't bother me either. I do the same as Billy, I always click new posts since last login. I can understand folks wanting their post on the main board, more readers. I don't go to the Want ads post much at all. Just my HO

How about!

How about a Birthday/Anniversary section!
Now that would clean up the general discussion.

Sometimes it's hard to judge where one goes, and I don't mind one being a little out of place like that.
I do think obvious ones should be moved, and everyone needs to think about it before they post, but the only ones that are really agrivating are the ones that say "I know this should be in X, but I'm posting it here anyway" Now don't get me wrong, some are hard to judge, and I've seen Rambo and others post and say, "if this isn't appropriate..." and that's different, but to post purposefully in the wrong place is a little rude.

I like it how it is.
If I understand how it is...
the mods will make a personal judgment call to determine if the post is appropriate for a particular forum. I have no problem with that.
I like the separate forums, but I have to say that it does bug me a bit to see posts that are (in my opinion) obviously for another forum. I don't say anything because the mods here are great and I trust them to do their job appropriately and as fairly as the benevolent dictator allows.

I selected the third choice. I like having the different forums. But I think we can get carried away trying to figure out where things go and moving stuff around. I also do think there are too many sub-forums...
There have been a couple of times that I started to post something that incorporated concepts from multiple sub-forums, and couldn't decide where to post it - so I didn't.
I do want to add though that the one time I had a post moved, Shellie was very nice to let me know in a PM. However, the post was moved to the vault because of 'content' (it was an MSNBC.com link about Christians and sex) and it never returned and I was never told why

And yet there were other times in the coming weeks that the same sort of content was not flagged or moved.
The point of this rambling is this: Some of this is so subjective that it is hard to figure out.
Just my thoughts...
BTW, Ya'll are doing an awesome job running things!

I like the sub-forums. Maybe you could leave a post in the general section for a few hours if the poster requested it. I too, think y'all do a great job. Thanks!

I prefer separate forums, but I don't care if some posts are "misplaced" with misplaced being the operative word. Intentionally posting in the wrong forum gripes me and I'll usually hit the back button and not even continue reading.
I like the sub-forums. If this was my board, I'd actually have a few more.
The mods do a good job here and everything is subject to their opinion, as it should be. No complaints from my section of the peanut gallery.

My preference is to allow a post to stay in the general section for a day or so and then feel free to move it. That way people get the exposure they want and then they can take the discussion to a sub-forum. I personally think that would be the best compromise/solution.

I don't really like some of the sub forums. I think it is a little to organized. For example, the joke forum. Why can't we just tell jokes in the general discussion forum?

Because some people think EVERYTHING they find funny, EVERYONE will think is funny...and you got to wade through the jokes for serious comment.
Don't you have an older relative that forwards Everything funny to you?

Hey I'm with Wendy to a degree.. I like structure for critical issues.. but overall - It's just a web board and people enjoying to chat. Don't make it more than it is.
