I saw this article in USA Today...

USA Today wrote:Majorities of young people in America describe modern-day Christianity as judgmental, hypocritical and anti-gay. What's more, many Christians don't even want to call themselves "Christian" because of the baggage that accompanies the label.

USA Today wrote:The findings were based on surveys of a sample of 867 young people. From that total, researchers reported responses from 440 non-Christians and 305 active churchgoers.

That sure is a lot of young people to do a study on.

given the media "standards" and entertainment industries that the "youth" are exposed to, especially the liberal "academy", this information isn't revelatory. it is unfortunate, though. I believe that every church should take a more direct hand in this area.

in our case, we have a "GAP" (graduates and professionals) Sunday School class. they are being taught to understand why the believe what they believe, and not just take for granted their parents beliefs, or "what pastor told them". in other words, they are being taught to not only know what they believe, but to know why and be able to defend it.

"we" have blamed peers, and "getting a car" for "losing" our youth. those things play a part (and other variables), but if they had a more applied understanding of their orthodoxy and orthopraxy of Christianity, I believe that there would be far fewer in exodus during and after high school.
