we have many people at west coast life ( the local church I attend) that have been effected.
over 250,000 people have been evacuated. This morning the smoke was pouring into our neighborhood from fires on the hills around us. We did not have to evacuate.
this is a larger evacuation than hurricane katrina.

A good friend of mine (Jason Johnson) lives in Pacific Palisades and his boss up in the hills. I guess the fires are real close, and they are in Moracco for a photo shoot and are stressing not being able to home to make sure everything is safe.
The Presbyterian church they attend in Beverly Hills has been destroyed.

That was in Malibu. We're in more trouble than I thought if the middle of LA is on fire.
The videos of the fires I'm sure you're all seeing on the news are dramatic but only a few places around LA (and those mostly ridiculously wealthy communities or resort towns in the hills) are threatened by fire. Most of us are just dealing with smoky air. San Diego County on the other hand...over ten percent of the population evacuated and hundreds of homes burned. Most of the evacuations are only precautionary but it's a hassle. Pray for the winds to stop. Better yet, pray for rain. It's the eight-year drought that's the real problem.

I'm definitely praying for all those effected. The fires we had here in south Georgia are still fresh in my mind, I know how rough it can be not only being worried about the fires coming toward your house (and the homes of friends and family), but also dealing with the smoke day after day.

Praying for you and yours in California.. I hate smoke and natural disasters, after going through the hurricanes, I don't wish that unrest on anyone.
It is interesting to note that wildfires in various places had been prophesied about of late, (I believe it was Chuck Pierce's ministry?) It is not a fun experience for anyone-but I hope and pray God will use this in some way for His glory and protect everyone that is involved.

Of course it is. Wouldn't want to upset all the rich folks.

If it's already a larger evacuation than Hurricane Katrina, then it means local, state and federal government are doing an excellent job evacuating the people in the fire's path.
I think there is a huge contrast here between the demographics of people affected by the wildfires and those affected by Katrina. Why is the government so quick to respond to the wildfire in California that is eating all the rich people's homes, but did such a terrible job helping the poor and defenseless in New Orleans when Katrina hit?
I feel bad for anyone's home that is destroyed by any sort of disaster. Losing personal mementos is the hardest part. It can take people years to rebuild from something like a fire.
But good Lord, it just seems uncanny to me that they've done such a great job evacuating all the people in California, yet they scrambled to even get a piecemeal system for everyone in New Orleans when Katrina hit.

Response: Maybe because New Orleans was run by idiots.
Who are "they've"??? "They've done" The difference is between the the smart and the stupid on the local and state level.
Arnold has it together. Nagan and Louisana's governor were incompetent.
This is not about the federal goverment. It is about the local government.
One was run by Demoncrats the other by Republicans.
