Michael Olson and Jackson Waters are a couple of my recent favorites.

Take a listen to Michael's playlist here:

My IPod is loaded with an extreme mix of music....but right now I've been listening to:

The Celtic Orchestra
David Arkenstone
Ronan Hardiman

Celtic music is very soothing and it goes well with the book series I'm reading. :D

I've been listening to the radio a lot, probably the most I have in years. Since I'm not actively reviewing CDs right now, my music listening is a bit more relaxed. But here are a few recent favorites:

-Steven Curtis Chapman - This Moment
-Sara Groves - Tell Me What You Know - (only $7.99 on iTunes)
-Sting and the Police - Greatest Hits
-Caedmon's Call - Overdressed

If I get to feeling better, I have tickets for David Crowder Band and Hillsong United this week.

Doubtful, BUT you know......wait for it.....it's coming....a Pentecostal WILL preach against Rock and Roll any day before they'll address the herseys of a "broader orthodoxy"

BUT to the matter at hand:

Sue Foley Change A female Blues Guitarist/Singer

Toni Price Born to Be Blue An Austin tx blues/roots bar singer

Carolina Chocolate Drops -An African American String band primal blues-bluegrass as it was meant to be

Stéphanie-Marie Degand -Johan Sebastian Bach Partitas for solo violin live in Nuremburg Germany this past June.

Also been checking out a little Merle Travis and am amazed to see how much Chet Atkins and Doc Watson echo him.

As Always theres some Western Swing: Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys King of Western Swing 1935-1940 A four disc anthology assembled in part from the Joe Bussard Collection

Been kind of obsessing on one of the songs "Oozlin Daddy Blues" - a song about ooglin pretty women -which has the humorous line:

Went to get my fortune told,
gave that gal my hand to hold
Oh Lawd!I got those oozlin daddy blues!
It was in that gypsy place,
she read my mind and slapped my face,
Oh Lawd, Oozlin daddy blues

The reason I can't get i tout of my mind is, that if you de-jazz it just a tad, take out the Dixieland horns. You've got the same tune as "I'm in a new World since the lord Saved me." Which as we sang it in Tennessee youth camps, still had quite a bit of old jazz/swing to it.

Found one of my favorites from the mid 90's on cd the other day and had to buy it. So, I have mainly been listening to "Squint" by Steve Taylor. I have also been listening to Michael W. Smith's new Christmas cd "It's a Wonderful Christmas". The Christmas cd is phenomenal and will probably be a gift for several people in my family (other than if they just read this sentence).
