Kind of disturbing that this is part of their outreach but I can't help but laugh:

The ad you posted is kinda sickening to me.

Here is a comedian talking about City Church.

No, they have a room for folks that look like me to sit off away for the hot young studs and foxes, so we won't disturb the vibe. Beware the vibe...

You know, I WANT to believe they were just being cheeky, but I don't honestly know that they don't mean it. Ummmm .... I just don't really know what to think about that. I'm put off by it, but, you know, they were just so ......... what's the word? .................. hot. That's it. Hot. Gotta go to church with the hot people.

I wasn't crazy about the ad, but their web site www.ourcitychurch.com doesn't look out of the ordinary in anyway that I can see.

Gee, I'd kinda call that guy "gay friendly"

Next thing you'll know they'll be throwing out a mammoth beach ball for the congregation to bat around to the tune of "Girls, girls, girls"

No Wait!

THAT happened at a Louisville Pentecostal church.

Gerald, that's just funny.

I know you're serious, but I still gotta ask "did that really happen?!"

Girls, Girls, Girls, huh? Please, I need details. That's just whacko, funny, I don't care what denomination they were.

Dolf: yes, it did really happen, along with an ad campaign for "Girls Going Wild".

On Easter Sunday.

Personally, I don't think it's funny.

Intrepid and resourceful as I am, I have located footage of THAT VERY SERVICE complete with Beachball, strobe lights and a country version of "Girls, girls, girls" contained within a News Report on Local tv

I checked out the church website and the fact that dude managed to land that girl probably is worthy of some type of miraculous testimony. :-)

I know you're going to disagree, and I respect it, man honestly I do. But, I watched that story, and I didn't have a problem with it. It isn't my taste, but the party atmosphere it generated was probably a good way to draw people into the study. I didn't see any suggestive behavior, and certainly not any references to anybody else's wife being hot or anything. So, for me, that is a big distinction from the other ad with the we-look-hot church. I know the whole play on words with "Girls Gone Wild" is touchy, maybe even over the top for a lot of people, but you take risks sometimes and you err on the side of turning culture against itself. At least that's the benefit of the doubt I'm giving after watching the YouTube clip Gerald linked to. Now, are they REALLY turning culture against itself? Probably not. If they were, they wouldn't have 1,000 people in attendance, IMO. But, the concept of using something like that, even in that way, using a popular vice-on-video to shove a bootheel in the face of vulgarity and to promote virtue? Yeah, I like that pretty well.
