Gun season opens tomorrow, haven't really had time to do bow in the last couple years, but did get to take my son out for Youth season one day (his first time out) He did pretty well (although we didn't see anything) so I'll probably take him with me tomorrow, may mean I miss my best chance, but I'm off for the week, so I'll get to do some more hunting.

But I saw a nice little 6 point buck come out from the woods yesterday morning and stroll across my back yard, stopping every few feet.

My goal was to get my son who is hunting in only his second season a shot at his first deer. A nice buck came up to us but it didn't give him a good view to take the shot. I built a nice 8ft x 10ft tree stand that would allow us to stretch out and take a nap if we needed all day to get him a shot. Unfortunately, he was napping when a nice 8 point came running past us about 11:30am.

I took the shot and the deer is currently be converted in 20 lbs of Summer Sausage, 10 packs of Deer Snack Sticks, and the remainder in ground deer with beef fat added.

We will have two or three more days to get him his first deer.
