The lady who wrote this HAS to have a COG/COGOP/TCOG background!

(From Huckabee's webpage)

Thoughts on the Evangelical Christian Aspect:

I have a lot to say but I'll try to keep it brief. Let me make my comments after a quick review of some pertinent facts. The perspective of many these evangelical groups is this: America has been in a 40 year peroid of "wandering in the desert", comparable to what happened to Israel in biblical times after they were so dramatically released from captivity in Egypt. They say this because of all the radical cultural changes that have happened since the 1960's. While some of that change has produced good results such as greater freedom for women and blacks, it has also produced great moral decay. The consensus is that 1967 was the "offical" start of this period, therefore 2007 concludes the 40 years. At the end of 40 years, Israel reaffirmed its covenant with God, and committed itself to follow God and go finish what was started 40 years before- the occupation of the promised land. Amercia, therefore, stands at the cross roads RIGHT NOW and has a choice, that hopefully will turn out to be a reaffirmation of its covenant with God. Not only does Huckabee solidly stand for all of the political issues that are so important to the evangelicals, but Huckabee is the only authentic Christian in the race, one who would lead the country in this direction.

-----NOW, given all this- supporting Huckabee ought to be a no-brainer. Why isn't every evangelical leader in the country on their knees humbly saying thank-you God for giving us a second chance? An endorsement from the pulpit is not even necessary, simply letting it be known in daily conversation would get the word around. People and the media want to know what they think. It would get around. These are the people who are suppose to have faith but I sure don't see much of it right now. Faith right now means believing that our country IS going to take a turn for the better, that Huckabee is the right man, and that he does have a chance of winning. Even those who don't come from this world view can see that Huckabee has character and character makes the best candidate.

----All that said let me make my comments- I am extremely disappointed in the behavior of christian leadership. I appreciate those you who have posted the names of the leaders who have endorsed Huckabee. However these have been few and it brings to mind another oft played out biblical scenario- that the religious leaders of the day have for the most part missed out when big changes came. I sure hope that's not true, but I think it would be a mistake for Huckabee to SIGNIFICANTLY change his campaign to court them- such as suddenly appearing super tough on issues like terrorism. (I'm not saying ignore them.) It's not time for Christians to sit around scutinizing others before making a decision, its time for them to get off the couch and pitch in to an effort that is so important to our country. When they do, then the Huckabee campaign can take their concerns seriously.

With that, I'll stop. I'm planning on doing the $100.00 on Nov. 20 too and I hope others will contribute too. We are betting that a win in Iowa and perhaps NH will get Huckabee publicity. It will, but the rest of the primaries will come rolling in quickly after that- maybe too quickly for everyone to get exposure to Huckabee before voting. He needs publicity now.

Not sure of the Tomlinson link here. That doesn't matter though. Steve, you and I are gonna win Jude2 for Huckabee! He really is the only candidate that can beat whatever the Democrats throw at us. Wanna get together for a debate party sometime in the next couple of months? Would be fun.

Some preachers preached that MA was the first GO after 40 years of "The Church wandering in the wilderness" or some such thing, and that he would not die until Jesus returned.

It is the old 40 year connection thing.

Just a little info on the 40 year connection; it wasn't MA but was AJ. After M. A. Tomlinson was selected as GO to replace his father, there was a song written about AJ that included this line; "Like Moses brother AJ led the church for 40 years, and then he died in 1943". Some believed that Moses, having led the Israelites through 40 years in the wilderness, was a type and shadow of AJ and his 40 years of leadership. (1903-1943)

Expanding on this: When I was a child I was told -by some- just as AJ was Moses MA would be Joshua and he would lead COGOP until the return of Christ.

Wow. We (COGOP) surely were full of ourselves, weren't we?
