Give me some turkey tips!

Tomorrow I bake my first turkey for Thanksgiving. It is completely thawed and in the fridge. It is about 13lbs. I have a disposable metal pan. Dinner is tomorrow at 6pm. HELP! I have no clue what I am doing.
Whoopi said 4 sticks of butter on The View today. What do you do with it? Wouldn't it melt and run off in a matter of minutes? She cooks hers overnight on 200 in the oven. MAN! I could completely ruin the meat of the meal. Now I know why people buy ham. LOL! I should have got one just in case. hehe.
My best results...

The best turkey results I have had is with a brown and serve bag...It gets thourougly done and stays moist with all the flavors from the juice of the turkey...

Does it have one of those red pop-up things?
If so it is hard to ruin it. Take it out of the oven when it pops. We cook huge turkeys several times a year -- we like turkey. I stick ONE stick of butter inside the cavity, after rubbing generously the outside with butter to help the skin brown and crisp. We ALWAYS cook ours in one of those clear plastic roasting bags, and people always say "WOW! The white meat is so moist!"
So, turkey, butter-rubbed, rest of the butter in the big hole; put a spoon of flour in the bag and shake it up well so the skin doesn't stick so much, and I put 3 or 4 stalks of celery in the bag so the turkey sits on the celery and not the bottom... but that's just a trick I learned.
Stick it it a 350 degree oven in one of those big aluminum roasting pans THAT IS ON TOP OF A STRONG COOKIE SHEET. You'll be glad later when taking it out of a hot oven. Leave it til the red thing pops up, or until you see the legs starting to separate from the body. Enjoy.

Cool! Thanks!
I looked at Walmart for one of those bags and couldn't find one. I am fixing to brave Kroger and see if they have them. I don't know yet if it has a red thingy. I seriously hope it does!

20 minutes per lb at 350.
Or just buy a set of Townecraft from me and cook it on the stove at 10 mins per lb on low

My grandmother taught me a trick...put it in a brown paper grocery bag, stapled closed. That is how I have always cooked mine. I don't peek...cook it for as long as they instructions say and it is perfect every time. I always cook mine the day before, pull all the meat off, place it in a cake pan, with drippings and the water from boiled giblets and then warm it up the next day. Always tender, the mess is gone, and I have more time to hang with family!
Blessings!

I have made my Turkey both ways, in the clear plastic bag and in a brown grocery bag. I think I prefer it cooked in the paper bag. When I did that, I put the bird, breast side down. The juices stayed in the breast while it cooked and it was delicious and juicy. I put butter in the cavity and sprinkle a little paprika on the bird for presentation. Either way, I am sure it will turn out good. With all the practice you have cooking for your big family, it will be a piece of cake.
