Sounds llike a man who would liked to be used by God in his later life. to equate it with someone espousing to be Christ would be streatching it quite a bit. BTW - He is not my favorite

Mister Ed,
You will find in some Pentecostal circles that it dosent matter what you say or what you preach -even to the point of denying Christs deity, as long as you instill some kind of FAITH with your Heresy or nuttery. THAT has become more important than the truth of the gospel.
It's a sad statement, but it is unfortunately true: therfore we have the shysters, fakers, heretics, thieves and nutjobs that are the FACE of Pentecostalism and their senseless devotees who defend them.

Did you watch it, Gerald.. it didn't sound like anything like "another Christ". JESUS said that we would do "greater works". Unless I missed something, that is all I heard..!
...and he's not my favorite, either!

Yes I did listen. He sounds like an ego maniac with delusions of religious grandeur. A man that will never receive anything other than what his own fantasy imagines: a vainglorious bloward who roots for gold like a pig rooting through slop.
BUt he's got the Pentecostal schtick down.
That's all it takes to be a "Man of God"

YET AGAIN you twist words and leave things out.
I would use delete the word "MOST" and say:
ALL Pentecostal Preachers who preach more about money and how you should send it to them, than Christ.
ALL Pentecostal Preachers who denigrate Christ.
ALL Pentecostal Pentecostal who use Fakery, Parlor tricks and Plants to create the illusion of miracles (I have witnessed this first hand).
ALL Pentecostal preachers who value the ideology they vomit in the fit of preaching EVEN IF IT CONTRADICTS SCRIPTURE.
ALL Pentecostal Preachers who cannot be corrected by anyone without breathing out threatenings and murder with "Holy Ghost machine guns" and "All Heresy Hunters are going straight to hell" condemnations.
Now do these factors define MOST ALL Pentecostal preachers?
And SPEAKING of being accountable and factors which make Pentecostal Preachers NOT worth listening to.....
YOU are the one who listed the occultic teachings of E W Kenyon as your most inspirational.
If teaching -
which even The Dictionary Of Pentecostal Religion traces back to Witchcraft- is YOUR inspiration, HOW dare you denigrate me for holding things to a higher standard??

I believe it was around 1988 or 89 when I first heard Rod Parsley preach on television. Rod's hell fire and brimstone preaching was anointed and even his own leaders would grace the altars with repentant hearts. I have witnessed this ministry change over the years and my heart has been saddened for it.

pa, I would agree with your accessment. My concern is that with so much effort spent to tear down these ministries, ( not by you ) no oneeems to ever address the reason so many hundred's of thousands of believers left and are leaving the Traditional Pentecostal movement to follow after these men.

What do you think the reason is, paul?

1) Greed
2) Lack of teaching
3) Lack of Warning
4) The very basis of Traditional Pentecostalism has been infiltrated by teaching inspired by the occult.

I posted the video clip of Parsley wondering what others saw or heard in it. Although he doesn't make any claim that would point to him thinking of himself as a christ, he IS making a claim of an annointing that belongs only TO Christ.
ONLY Christ can break every bondage.
ONLY Christ can break every curse.
ONLY Christ can release blessings in our lives.
He is not saying "I can pray for God to do these things for you", but is claimimg he can do these things himself, saying he came out of his mother's womb at a precise time in history so his year of "Jubilee" would coincide with the year "2007-year of completion".
Several Ministries are claiming this to be the year of completion because of the number 7 being the last digit. Seems some of them are getting desperate as the year comes to a close and nothing seems to be getting close to completion. If they do get it all completed, what are they going to do next year?

Mr. Ed,
Even though I am not an avid follower of Rod Parsley these days, I can't find the objection that you seem to have with that particular video clip. I personally believe that men of God can be anointed to do great miracles (Parsley's anointing or lack thereof will speak for itself). Christ himself taught that the Father would send the Spirit that Christian's might have the ability to perform greater works.
Unless you see the Parsley clip as a boast, which is still a stretch, I can't see the objection here. He seems to be stating that there is a special anointing upon his life. Even John the Baptist was born with the Holy Ghost, so to be chosen of God at birth is not necessarily Parsley's worst message.

I find it hard to view that video and NOT hear a boast. It seemed very arrogant and self-serving, IMHO.

I am looking for that scripture where John the Baptist publicly boasted about how anointed he was. Help me find that, since you are saying the two are comparable.
Parsley comes across, to me, as an egotistical blowhard. Sorry.

In context:

Rod Parsley may very well be all those selfish things, Pastor Gary, but in context I was pointing out that this particular video clip didn't seem to be anti-Christian or full of doctrinal error. I can offer things from Rod Parsley that do indeed seem to be extra-biblical.
Nevertheless, I might add that Peter didn't seem to concerned about being mistaken for boastfulness in Acts 3 where he said, look on us and receive what we can give concerning the powerful things of God.
BTW, I'm not defending Rod Parsley. I'm only defending a minister's right to speak of being anointed without being labeled unfairly by the "seminary" group.
Blessings,
pa
