I was curious does the Bahama brass band still play at the G.A.?
I used to love that as a child, it was my favorite part of the assembly. My first words were Halleluia in the assembly. I would really get excited as a baby to hear them. Interesting enough we just had revival and my babies first words were said in sevice when the LORD was moving in such a wonderful way and it was halleluia. Now he has said dadadadadada but first actuall words were in our revival and were the same as mine.
Any way God bless

At the last assembly in Nashville, they had a bigger gathering on the sidewalk of downtown Nashville than some of the sessions inside, and they were not all assembly folks either, many were tourist, and I overheard several make postive remarks about how professional and good they were.

I just gotta tell this.

We have this little tike about 15 months old at church who acts like his preaching.
He will pick up anything, acting like it a mirophone and preach.

He'll chabber chabber chabber chabber.. then say...Yeah!! Chabber chabber chabber.. yeah! Then stick his pacifier back in his mouth.

His mother tries to quiet him during the preaching. If the service is not going on she'll let him go at it.

He did ruin one microphone (an old one) from his slobbers.

Yep. They still play, and they are still great! They've always been one of my favorite parts of the Assembly. I love it when they get wound up playing "We Shall See the King".

Faith, I was standing in that crowd and they were awesome as ever. :D :!: I wish the G.A. would give them center stage for a prime-time concert on Thursday or Friday evening - INSTEAD OF a worship team.

You know there would be someone who would have something to say about it,
negatively. :(

My pastor's wife loved to hear them play every year. Sadly she passed away in 2001. We went to the GA the next year and when they played memories of this dear sweet woman made me cry. I don't remember ever crying that hard at a GA. It was terrific and now i look forward to hearing them every year.

I've never understood the older generations fascination for this band.

I know they received prominence in the Asseblies because they were Tomlinsons favorite. (what would have happened if he prefered Ragtime or blues?) So I guess nostalgia has a lot to do with it.

The year I did manage to hear them live (which was quite a few years ago) they were reminisent of a sloppy junior High School band. NOT like the videos Billy Has posted at all.

I brought the band to New Orleans for the Sunrise 93 project. We did a parade down Bourbon Street and they played the "devil" out of that place!!!    They were a big part of the program there and we had them perform at many venues. They were a big hit!!1

One of the street musicians "Hack Bartholemue " who plays in front of "Cafe du Mond in Jackson Square, got saved while watching them and joined them for the rest of the convention!!! I saw him back in the summer and he is still playing there and still loving Jesus!!! If you get down to N.O. go to the "Cafe du Mond " for some beniyeas and listen to Hack!!! He will bless you!!!

The BBB...is pound for pound one of the greatest assets of the COGOP. It is sad that they are not spotlighted more...they had and could continue to have a great impact for the organization. I love those guys...just wish they could stay sanctified...
