Does anyone remember getting that 3 inch thick Sears Christmas Wishbook as a kid and sitting there dreaming about what you wanted for Christmas?
Seems to me the dreaming and anticipation was way cooler than even getting the toy on Christmas.

Oh yeah!! That brings back memories!
I was driving in Marietta the other day and was on Windy Hill beside what used to be Lionel Playworld, the first big toy store I'd ever seen. As a kid, it was almost too much for me to fathom - aisles and aisles of toys!!! I remember my brother buying me an Iron Man mego there.

I remember that store! My parents got me a Weeble Wobble submarine from there!
I didn't have the Iron Man Mego, but I did have Superman, and Batman and Robin, and I picked up a Joker missing part of his costume from a Kmart bargain bin when I was a kid.

Hey I remember the Sears Wish Books. Page after page of things to wish for.

We sat down with markers and circled what we wanted. We would put our initials in the circle.

Now I officially feel old, my kids did that every year with the Sears book and with Penney's Christmas catalog.

I haven't thought of that in years, but I remember flipping through it in the living room floor, day after day, dreaming about what I wanted for Christmas.

Yeah, I did that, plus, I dogeared the pages so my parents wouldn't miss them!

Here's a link to a Flickr page where a guy scanned in the 1979 Wishbook. It will bring back some memories!

Now children, I can "one-up" you with the Sears "Wishbook." When and where I was raised, that book was put to more practical purposes . . . one page at a time.
Children nothing!! I learned to pee off the porch to keep from going that far in the middle of the night.
