I heard a lady say once that if a cop beats her kid with a billy bat it is justifiable force. If she beats his butt, it's child abuse. She then said to let her control her kid so that the police would never have to.

That's right!! Jakob is going to get spankings when he does something he shouldn't. I know it's gonna hurt me as well, but I have two family members whose mother hardly ever spanked/disciplined them and to this day, they have no respect for their parents, or anyone else for that matter. I DO NOT want my son to grow up that way. I may cry while I spank him, and maybe that will help him see that I don't WANT to spank him, but it's to teach him right from wrong. And I think a lot of parents spank their child when they are angry...I am gonna try to calm down first, then spank him. Because what he did will not go away, I will just be thinking clearly when I get ready to spank him...does that make sense?

It's really a sick joke...

What they don't realize is, there won't be enough tax dollars to house all their criminals when this law comes to fruition...God is not mocked whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap...Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child and the rod of correction will drive it far from him...Of course this probably isn't verbatim, but it's close enough...Foolishness of childhood becomes a rebellion in a few short years that can cost a child a lifetime and the lenient parents that condone it...God's ways are the best ways whether we understand or not...

Steps down from soapbox...Whew...poor kids of today....

Good for you sister, and the angry part is definitely important, children need to understand why, and the reason should never be because Mom/Dad is mad, but must be focused on their actions and the consequences of them, that way they learn. If a child learns what the word "No" means early on, and parents are consistent, it will help them throughout their lives.
