That's pretty cool. Have you ever read the novel "Roma" by Steven Saylor, Rambo? It's a "historical novel", which I normally don't care for, but this one is different. Saylor takes legendary events in Roman history, such as the legend of Romulus and Remus, and tries to dream up real world explanations for the foundation of the legends. He basically goes by the theory that every legend is based on a kernel of truth. He then tells the story the way it "really happened". It's pretty cool.
