I am selling my 52" Sony big screen TV. It is a floor model with new amplifier, very good picture. It is just too big for my small living room. I am looking at buying a new flat TV. The ones I have been looking at are Sony, Panasonic, Samsung and LG. Which are the best in ratings?

We love our Sony Bravia LCD!
All four brands you mentioned are nice however.

Are you wanting LCD or Plasma? We purchased a flat panel Polaroid LCD at Wal-Mart last year. The picture quality has actually impressed me more than I originally thought. Go to Wal-Mart (or TV superstore) and look at all the pictures side by side before making a decision.

This really helped me to make my decision.

I do not have the 46 inch screen, but that would be my recommendation. Notice the customer ratings are average 4 stars.

I think that question depends on which HD technology you are looking at, either DLP, LCD or Plasma. I bought a 55" Samsung DLP 2 years ago. The Samsung then was rated the best for DLP technology. I love mine. No other way to watch sports.

can't justify changing, my 6 year old 53" toshiba still works. just kinda big compared to a flat panel. which would requisite that I also buy a stand/shelf of some kind to house the stuff that is currently on top of the set (3d0, N64, ps/2, Direct TV reciever/tivo, Laser disc, vcr, dvd, DVD-burner, center and L/R speakers).

Do you think $400.00 is too much to ask?

I sold my 56 inch Magnavox for $500 two years ago. Big screens become more affordable with each passing year as people make the switch to flat panels. I would check the price on the new models before setting a price.
