Are there "old ways" COGOP churches still out there? Churches that still believe in the Flag, One Fold, "Rise Shine" and all those things?
And if so, are there many of them or is it almost non-existant now?
Are there "districts" known for still preaching these things?
Just curious.....

Yes there are still cogop's preaching old doctrine just as we TCOG are preaching. There still are many that have left since they have realized that cogop are not going to change back. Yet many still feel cogop will change becuase they feel it is still the exclusive church. I know in the last 2 years a couple churches that had around a hundred members per church came over and a third with 50 plus. I know there is a mission in north carilona that is now a church that recently had a cogop church have many members come. I know of a lot that still believe the same way but just feel they will go back to the old paths. They fail to realize the cogop has grown since the change and with so many new members who have never heard this old doctrine would be very confused for any changes to be made. Of course I see it in a whole different aspect so, but that is what I do know.
May God bless.

Just curious as to how you quantify "many"?

I believe that your observations are based more upon TCOG wishful thinking: "Many will wake up and realize WE are the true COG" rather than reality.

Josh, my question is "why on earth would you look for one??"
It took us decades of prayer and struggle to free COGOP from the "old ways" so why would anyone want to go back to Egypt's bondage?

Rev rick,
I speak for no other organization. I was born and raised in COGOP my family gave a lot of work at headquarters and VOS. DOnt question my motives without knowing me. I do know a lot of people in COGOP.
It is not wishful thinking on TCOG it is just an answer to many I have talked to. Many in comparision to the rest of cogop the answer would be no. BUt yes in many states there are a LOT of people that still preach this way. Attack me if you would like but it is true.
As I said Some big churches have walked it may be few to the over all number obviously but none the less I believe the context of the question was does anyone in cogop still teach this way. The answer is yes.
We do not sit around and say oh please let more and more cogop people leave. I pray fr souls

Does it really matter? This is not meant facetiously, but with all sincerity.
Those things couldn't keep these all together.

I'm not COGOP, so I'm not looking for those old ways. My preferred style of church is very contemporary Pentecostal. I've observed the changes in COGOP as an outsider, and was wondering just how widespread the changes go in the whole US as far as if there are still pockets of "resistance" within the COGOP. Like what percentage of the COGOP is wholeheartedly for all the changes, and what part may still attend and believe the old stuff and even pastors that still teach it?

I worded my response badly: I meant it in terms of "Why would ONE look for one??" -- not to imply you (personally) are.
My point was, there are plenty of alternative xCOGx groups out there who are "old ways" still believe in the Flag, One Fold, "Rise Shine" and all those things organizations, and that is NOT who COGOP is any more.
You would probably be very much at home with MOST of the COGOP churches represented on Jude2, Pastor Ron's church, etc.

Yes, I have participated in transdenominational activities with COGOP people and also visited COGOP churches in Cleveland and was right at home. In the early 80s I attended a COGOP State Convention in Minnesota and it was another story! Good people, but some strange references and anecdotes from the pulpit! One guy talked about how he came out of the A/G thru revelation, etc. and that got shouting. They also talked about a youth speaking in tongues and taking the American flag and laying it at the foot of the All Nations Flag and saying "this too shall bow!!" and the place went wild. And of course they tried to persuade me to come into the Church.

Back then, an A/G friend asked his pastor father about the churches I was visiting because he was concerned and his father replied "if it's just COG its ok, but if it has "of prophecy" on the end it is almost a cult".
It seems every Pentecostal group has its pockets of conservativism, for instance I've heard the COG although they abandoned the dress codes decades ago has areas in Florida where they look like the UPC! I have even run into the odd isolated AOG church that had dress codes! Surprising. Conservative dress codes still in COGOP I understand but I was wondering whether the exclusivity doctrines were totally gone.

It's true. In Florida, the conservatives wear one pieces.
