Huckabee & OSAS

Those whom God has accepted in Christ, and sanctified by His Spirit will never fall away from the state of grace, but shall persevere to the end.
Huckabee is a Souther Baptist, pastored a church, and was president of one of the SBC offices in Arkansas. He is riding a wave of conservative Christian support because he is a Christian. Is what he teaches and believes as a Christian of any factor? Why is it that any Christian that shows up in the news or the limelight gets examined by us but if one runs for Pres. against Hillary Clinton then we take him at face value? Good grief, most if not all have roasted the Clinton's for their lying, cheating, stealing, covering up, murderous (maybe), adulterous ways but under Huckabee's doctrine they are Christians with the rest of us. If so then why is it so far fetched for some of us, not me, to vote for Hillary? She's a Christian too!

If you would question Huckabee concerning the Clinton's or other like them. His response would be something to the effect that though they have sinned their sin was and is covered under the Grace of Jesus. Eph 1:13 and Eph 4:30 Now my interpretation is different and I do not have ample time here to post it ( maybe later ).
You sounds as if being a Christian is not enough, now you prefer someone on the same doctrinal page as yourself. Well, goodluck
But if I have a choice of voting for someone who is walking out their Christian faith vs. someone who is not, for me their is not a question.

My question would be can you support a Christian even if they say it's ok to sin every day because you are covered by grace? To that I would ask, Shall we continue in sin so that grace may abound?
And for the record the Pres. doesn't have to be a Christian in my book. He he is and wears it on his shirt sleeve then he'd better back it up in every aspect because he will be representing the entire faith in front of the entire world.

Absolutely, without question. Because I understand their view of the mentioned scriptures. Again, I do not agree with their view, nor do I agree with the other extreme that we must live an absolute perfect life, which is free from every sin, or temptation.
And for the record the Pres. doesn't have to be a Christian in my book. He he is and wears it on his shirt sleeve then he'd better back it up in every aspect because he will be representing the entire faith in front of the entire world.
As I said before, I prefer a Christian who is kowledgable, qualified ( if it is possible for anyone to truly be qualified for that type of position ). And one if a Christian is WALKING out his.her faith.

So, FullQuiver, it is obvious that you are not a Huckabee guy, so who are you pulling for? You may have said, but I don't remember. Also, why are you supporting them?

no, I would NOT support a Christian running for President that says
"it's ok to sin every day because you are covered by grace". However, after much study of the Calvinist doctrines - I have found that your quote (bolded, here) is a
demonization of Calvinism by those not in that camp.
I don't know ANY Calvinist that believes that
"it's ok to sin every day because you are covered by grace". I find it interesting that you would stoop to that kind of "smear-campaign".

where did you say you lived?

Try asking my granddad. He is a dyed in the wool baptist deacon, a fine man but will tell you straight to your face that you do sin everyday but as a Christian you are already forgiven for such and that you cannot fall away. Though he strongly holds to this opinion I cannot see where he does sin everyday and I have even asked him what have you done today that is sin. The worst he's ever admitted to was not reading his Bible enough. This is a man that has never drank, smoked, cussed, maybe not even lied. He is straight as an arrow, gentle, but convinced.
He is one of thousands that believe this way but maybe one of few that live differently.

and I agree with him. I do not believe that we are sinless as some here believe, once they are saved.

nope. our sin nature is gone. and your assumption of what they believe in a "necessity to sin" vs "sin happens", is not the same as what I know of them (being a former baptist).

I grew up Baptist and as far as I know they do not believe that our sin nature is gone. If it were then we would not sin now would we unless you are speaking of willful sin.
I have said that I am leaning towards Thompson then Paul. Neither wear their religion on their sleeve hoping to buy a vote with it.

This is your opinion, and you are entitled to it, but you cannot provide one shread of evidence supporting this, unless it comes from a Fred Thompson supporter. They seem to be behind most of the attacks of late.
Huckabee is just not afraid to talk about his religion. It is refreshing. At least he has been consistent, and doesn't switch his statements depending on a poll or the crowd he is talking to.
If you are so pro Fred or pro Ron, maybe you should try and giving us information about THEM and why we should vote for them instead of always attacking the other guy.

I think the belief is once you are saved you have the ability NOT to sin, but being that we are still fallen sin WILL occur, not MUST occur.
Are You FQ, maintaining that you are absolutely perfect before God?

You believe that sanctified people can't sin? Sin, but don't really want to? Won't sin? Only commit "accidental" sin?
What, exactly, do you believe?
