I wanted to make you all aware of Richard and Dawn Johnson of Christian Formation Ministries. They have been involved in prison ministry for over 30 years and for the larger part of that time traveled as ministry training evangelists across the country. The Lord has recently brought them back to their home to work in this type of recovery ministry locally. They are opening a Community Place adjacent to the projects for volunteer/ ministry training, resource referral and community outreach. I want to introduce them to you because they plan to open on the 19th of this month. They are also partnering with us to help minister to the men who come into our House of Refuge ministry. I also plan to refer families to them through my work at the community center which is just across the street. They covet the prayers of the saints and I would ask you to place them on your prayer list and prayerfully consider giving them ministry support as well, as there are many costs associated with the refurbishing of the building they have purchased and they need support. We believe strongly in their ministry and we have prayerfully decided to give a seed offering into this ministry which is in faith believing that God will bring a great harvest through this ministry.

Was it necessary to mention this or even Biblical to do so?

I mention this only because I desire to bless their ministry.
My feeling is when we are presented with an opportunity to see fruit borne for the kingdom it is right to pray about what to give... and they have a proven and fruitful ministry, it is wise to give into that kind of ministry!

Did you take this as a boast? I really can't see the harm that you seem to have found with the aforementioned. If Jennifer would have stated an $$$ amount sown, that possibly could have been a little different.

I stand to be corrected, but I read Jennifer's statement about sowing into the ministry as an attempt to connect those of us who might not be familiar or trusting of the ministry to the ministry by virtue of their giving. Personally, I would probably be more likely to give financially to an unknown ministry if I have some point of reference. Sam and Jennifer would be my reference in this case.
