What is virtual memory? I get messages ever-so-often that say my virtual memory is too low and that windows is doing something to blah blah blah. It slows my computer down so baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. Drives me crazy. It happens about once a month.

What is it? How can I remedy it?

don't leave your computer on all the time. you need to shut it down now and again. there are many programs that aren't written very well, and thy have memory leaks, and holes, and sometimes resources aren't released as they should be. Some programs are worse than others, but this is very typical symptom of leaving your computer on all the time. (launching, running, and closing programs a lot while it is running)

How much memory do you have in the computer. Virtual memory errors usually come from having several programs loaded at the same and it needs to swap out which it does to the Hard drive. That is why it slooowwwssss down.

Adding memory should alleve the virtual memory errors.

But as Rambo stated. Shutting down once n while does help.

And spending 45-60 bucks is a lot cheaper than buying a MAC...

I do get so tired of that statement!

Dell is also very bad about manually configuring the virtual memory settings which will occasionally cause these errors. I can't remember right off how to change the setting and I'm not on a Windows PC right now but here is a link to where to change it https://www.Micro$oft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/sysdm_advancd_perform_change_vmpagefile.mspx?mfr=true
I'd recommend setting it to allow windows to manage your virtual memory.
