I thought I would take a poll that for myself will be of interest.

If you are reading an article on another website/blog and you would like to share with our Jude2 community I have often wondered as to the proper way to do it. Should we copy and paste the article in its entirety here on Jude2 or just post a Link to the article.

One of the features that I like about J2 is that when you do click on a link it does open a new window which would be a pro But sometimes the site you are going to may have random advertising of which might be questionable which is a con.

Just wondering what fellow Jude2er's felt about this.

My personal preference is to post a link, then post excerpts that might generate interest or validate a point. People sometimes post entire articles (long ones at that ) when only one or two paragraphs actually have any bearing on the topic under consideration.

I usally only read the headlines. That is why I like Drudge Report so much. Get the news in about 20 seconds. 8)

Since I don't read the whole article how am I to pick out the important parts, I just post the whole article with the link.

I have requested several times (not recently) that MORE than a link be posted... what I have asked for is a BRIEF summary of the content + link.

For example:

!0-year-old glues himself to bed to avoid school: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,320957,00.html

This allows those of us who often view J2 from a BlackBerry or smartphone to decide whether we want to leave J2 to read the story (based upon a succinct summary) or not. A link tells nothing.

the link primarily, but if it is a site that requires registration (and assuming no copyright infringement), posting the article is more appropriate.
