veramyst

Does anyone use veramyst? It is a prescription nasal spray, steroidal I believe. I was having some serious allergy problems and at the same time my ENT prescribed this to open up the canal between my ear and nose or throat to try and see if my hearing got better. Well the spray cleared up the allergies quickly. I was a believer and the ENT wrote me 7 prescriptions. She was thrilled that I liked it (she probably gets a cut from the pharmaceutical company  ).

Well all of the sudden my nose started to hurt and bleed. Pardon the grossness but it seemed that ear wax was draining into my nasal cavity. Maybe it was but I got a bit scared. Possibly it was opening up that canal as the ENT hoped for. Well I discontinued the use and still I have a nasal prob that is both aggravating and just as bad. I started back on the Veramyst yesterday after a month long sabbatical. It seems to be clearing me up already.

What are your experiences?

I do have an appointment with a specialist in a couple of weeks. I plan on discussing this with him then.

Did you read the possible side effects before you used it? Here is a link that might be interesting to you. I had a similar problem (not near as serious as yours) with a sore throat and saw a doctor who gave me a sample of Veramyst and a prescription and a coupon to save $25.00 if I filled it. After reading the side effects I decided what I had wasn't all that bad. He also told me to get some Mucinex DM which cleared me up. He also gave me a prescription for an anti-biotic.

Well I was prescribed the med for a severe ear problem. It just happened to work great for allergies so I liked it. I have no way of knowing if it is helping the ear condition.

Okay, now I'm gonna seem like a crazy homeopathic medicine guy, here, but have you done the ear candle? They work. My wife's done them on my ears a few times, and they really open up the ear, clean them out. I have similar issues with the ear and sinus stuff.

I am a big believer in the sinus flush. Don't know the exact name but it's where you have saline water up one nostril and out the next. It burns like nobody's business but when I feel a cold or infection start, I do that and it's gone. It's the most effective thing I've done other than go and get antibiotics every time (and they are way more expensive).

Agreed!

I'm not typically a homeopathic-type girl, but Dolfan and Dewayne are right. The ear candle and the sinus flush both work. My son is a testimony (kicking and screaming, but a testimony nonetheless).

I have chronic sinus infections, about 6 - 7 weeks I get an infection. The sinus infections lead to bronchitis which occasionally lead to pneumonia. I saw a new pulmonary specialist about a month ago and he told me about the sinus flush. It works, so far no sign of infection and the allergies appear to be better, you don't need a prescription.

Well my ear is sorta complicated. I have bone malformations, the ear canal is growing together, and I have 80% hearing loss. They were hoping that the veramyst would open an internal tube/canal which would help with the hearing loss.
