I would go iPhone!!! I would have one right now if I didn't have to switch providers. I hate ATT.

strictly based on hardware and platforms (not service providers), there are several considerations that need to be examined.
the need for service of the device
whether or not upgrading memory is important or not
screen size, may be a factor
using a touch screen vs "thumbing" a keyboard (as far as I am concerned if it doesn't have a "full" keyboard, it isn't in the comparison)
total costs involved in service plans will need to be compared
the "kewl-factor" or "geek-factor" pay be part of the consideration, and is individual perceptions.
"Enterprise security" - Itunes is not a corporate friendly application and in my case is an HR offense if installed. vs. the desktop manager which has corporate enterprise versions available. This is also part of the email security. whether coming from "the Internet" or from a corporate server/post office" (non-issues for normal home users)

In my case, the BB is the only option. though I have been seriously trying to justify the purchase of an ipod touch. the main reason I haven't so far is that the max 32g is seriously a limitation to me, with no other memory upgrade options.

conclusion: assuming budgeting isn't an issue - the iphone is sleeker, and prettier, but I can't hardly think about texting/emailing/document work and doing productive work on an iphone - but you may not want to use it that way. :)

My friend just got one of these. Seems to work real well and costs much less.

Palm has their new Treo Pro that looks very good. http://www.palm.com/us/products/smartph ... index.html

Seems like Palm is getting back in business with this new phone. Very high reviews so far. Worth looking into it.

As an iPhone user let me share my love/hate points of the device:

LOVE:
- iPod functionality
- Intuitive easy to use interface
- Touch screen
- Tons of third party apps available through iTunes Store
- Mobile email is easy to use, it's the only platform on which I ever check my email

HATE:
- No MMS (picture message) capability
- The "AT&T sound" seems to be magnified (major speaker interference)
- Camera is 2.0 MP but still sucks (I use my Canon Rebel XTi though)

There are a few more good than bad things about the iPhone and overall I like it. Honestly though, and here's the main thing...I didn't and will not buy an iPhone 3G because (a) I am nearly always around a Wi-Fi network at work or home, (b) it's lighter and I don't think the construction is as durable and (c) too many dropped calls.

I am one who was a Blackberry user for several years and switched to the iPhone the day the 3G came out. I have not regretted the switch for one minute.

I loved my BB, and was used to the full keyboard, etc. but traveling I always carried the BB + an iPod. I eliminated that now and carry a single multi-functional device. Nice.

The iPhone has plenty of memory for what I need... email, a selection of music, a few videos, etc. The push mail on the BB was great, but I have my iPhone set to check mail every 15 minutes, and -- frankly -- if you ned mail faster than that, you are too busy!

My iPhone allows me to text, use AOL Instant Messenger, email, make calls with or without speaker phone, fully integrates with the contacts in my Mac Address Book application, the web browser is light years ahead of the sort-of internet on the BB (but I wish flash was an iPhone function)... I have several games for hospital waiting rooms and other non-productive downtime, the GPS saved my neck more than a few times on my mainland trip, and was actually more useful than the Garmin Nuvi GPS I borrowed from a member. When they release the turn-by-turn voice-direction software it will be even better.

The iPhone LACKS copy/paste for now (coming according to rumor) and there is an iPhone version of Micro$oft Office lite coming I hear. I love my iPhone. I had TERRIBLE service and customer service from T-Mobile, so, for me, the move to ATT has been wonderful relief. The latest software update solved 99% of the minor issues... some early dropped calls, third-party apps crashing and battery life issues... my battery life has significantly improved this week!

Advantage: iPhone.
