Let's assume today that our next president will be Barack Obama. Let's further assume a filibuster-busting supermajority of 60 Democrats in the Senate.

What will America look like in two years? What if we take Barack Obama at his word? What if we take Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid at theirs? Barney Frank?

Massive tax increases.

A depressed economy.

A new, revived non-working class.

Federal control of local schools.

Nationalized banks.

Airwaves censored regarding political thought and expression.

The control of Internet content by the Government.

People secretly arming themselves, often illegally because of a packed Supreme Court and appellate system that will find no 2nd Amendment rights to bear arms absent a "well-regulated militia".

Racial hatred born from a sense of entitlement fed by the newly expanded welfare state and the confiscation of wealth from producers, compounded by the skyrocketing loss of jobs for the middle class.

How do you prepare for this? What do you say to your kids?

I've been thinking about this a lot. All I can say is that God is still on the throne, no matter how vile our Earthly leader is. He was on the throne when Nero was emperor, and he'll be on the throne with President B.O.

I'm preparing to say "You are a freakin' idiot!" quite a bit to people who voted for him.

We will watch President Biden on TV say, "I told you he should have picked Hillary," after Obama is assassinated by a group of skin heads from Alabama and Tennessee.

You think I am kidding? I'm serious...

I agree with you, Cats! I think he is as good as gone...actually I am surprised no one has tried (I mean really tried) before now....

I realize that the speculation here today about the safety of a candidate or possible electee-to-be is just that: speculation. I also know all of you, and know you wish no harm toward anyone, even if you vote for their opponent.

I would just caution that one must be very cautious in discussing these matters as theory, speculation and such, lest anyone be misunderstood as suggesting, predicting or inciting others to act.

Just a precautionary word, and, yes, I understand what is being said and the innocent speculation being tossed around.

Really (about the bolded part)? I don't want to be disagreeable, but I just don't believe that to be true. (Don't read this next statement as being anything other than a time in history, no doctrinal ponies being ridden here.) In AD 70, after Jerusalem's fall, the Jews ate their own children because they were starving. Now, either that is a form of sustenance (in which case I'll concede the point formally), or God considered them no longer His children (a theological argument I'm not prepared to defend), or God let His children go without so bad they could not sustain themselves.

It may be that sustenance is all we have to look forward to, which is the change Obama is moving us toward, IMO. And, certainly, God is faithful. But, I don't want to pretend that God is not the author of destruction. If it serves His purpose, He can destroy all of the structures of our livelihoods and families and society, etc. He's done it before. So, by "grabbing hold of God" (and I take that advice seriously) in the face of this watershed, are we preparing ourselves to take what He offers to substitute for all we've come to know and depend on? Are we ready for a wholesale Katrina-ing of our lives because God is the master of the political winds, too? Are we content with that (and, let us recall that Godliness with contentment is great gain)? Those are sobering thoughts. If so, if that is really our ready-set-go in all of this, then maybe Obama's election is the best thing. Would you agree with that, Eager?

I SO hope you are wrong. It would literally destroy the country if that happened. Remember the Rodney King riots? That's about 1/1000th of what would happen if some redneck shot Obama.

The Secret Service has to gearing up for the most intensive protection detail the world has ever seen. No, Obama will never be allowed into a position to be assassinated. And every right wing group or political dissident in the country will have surveillance so far down their throats 24/7, the FBI will be getting detailed reports on the contents of their stomachs. And the assassins oversees won't touch him, they know he's on their side.

We survived 8 years of the Clintons, we'll survive the 4 years it takes Obama & Biden to show the country they have no idea what they are doing. I'm not worried too much about that.

But I am nearly certain that the year after they leave office, we'll be attacked inside our borders by foreign terrorists again. It will happen, because like the Clintons, the Obama/Biden administration will do nothing to hinder the growth of foreign terrorist organizations, but they will dismantle our military again, and they'll call it "giving the hard-pressed middle class a Peace Dividend".

I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.

I really do not mean this as a personal attack or slander I am just so tired of the religious overkill using this scripture

Tell it to the starving Christians in Somalia. tell it to the tens of thousand displaced and abandon in the DRC.

There has always been in every judgment of God on the earth a faithful remnant that lived on to procreate but there were also many faithful who died because of the sins of others in the kindom than there own.

Please people quit miss-using scripture it is just as bad or maybe worse than the God wants all his children rich so send in your money claptrap.

I dislike McCain but liked his choice of Palin. I could be wrong but historically the polls this close on election day I believe have always gone for a larger swing the other way.

And I am with you PG no one who truly understands the issues could vote for Obama except by just drinking the kool-aid and not considering the questions before they answer.
