What do you think of the Wii?

We've been considering a video game system for Christmas. Today, we played the Wii system at a relative's house. Y'all, I was like a kid. I loved it. Have you tried it? How do you compare it to the PS3? Keep in mind that we are getting this for our little girl to enjoy, too, so the way the Wii works really has sold us on it, but I want more opinions. What are the "must have" accessories? What are some things that you may as well not spend money on?

Depends on what types of games you want. Xbox 360 has some of the best graphics and I read this week the most games on the market. The PS3 comes with a blue ray.

About 6 months ago, we went the way of the Wii. After playing one, my wife loved it and she is not a gaming fan. I would definately recommend multiple remotes and nunchucks. It really is a fun gaming system. The sporting games I have played, like Madden 09, are much simpler on the Wii as well.

We purchased the PS3 last year. For two reasons... the superb resolution for HD gaming and blueray. I also connected a Flat panel 46" to it via HDMI and output the sound through a stereo system.

The HD resolution is SOO much better than the typical 640 x 480 TV and also plays the true HD Blueray movies for mom and dad. So ours was a double edged purchase.

If you want to be active and jumping up and down on your video game.. purchase the WII.

If you want to SIT ON YOUR REAR and relax.. while you enjoy incredible inspiring graphics grab a PS3 or I hear the xbox now supports HD in the top models.

So think after a hard days work.. do you want to be active ( because the child will want you involved ) or lethargic in the recliner working only your fingers enjoying awesome graphics?

(Hint.. We put a punching bag and headache bag up in the shop for when we want to swing and punch )

fun

Daryl tell them what you like about wii fit! He loves to HULA HOOP!!! Or maybe we just like to laugh at him hula hooping.
We got ours for Christmas last year and love it.
I was in circuit city the other day (Fri) and found games for $11. $9. & $6.90!!! They were on clearance. The one for $6 was Over the Hedge or something but perfect for our 6 yr. old. They had all differnt kinds though. Football, My sims Pet (I think it was $11?), and lots of others. May want to check that out since most games are $29.99 and up.

I gave one away to my youth group this summer. The girl who won it says that it has become a family thing and brough them even closer together.

So there is a spiritual side..................

I read an article not too long ago that the Blu-Ray is on its way out. Anyone heard that? They said it's because it didn't catch on like it should have and especially now in this economy it will eventually be the laserdisc of the 2000s.

I have thought that and I believe I did hear that somewhere. Wii is also good for your kids to play to keep them active even though they are playing a video game

We have a PS3 and a Wii...both are connected to our 64in HDTV, with surround sound, the graphics of the PS3 are amazing, but the Wii is so much more fun! We as a family play the Wii all the time. We also have the Wii Fit, which I just couldn't believe would work you out...but boy was I fooled! It's amazing!! Having extra controllers is a must with the Wii, competition is so much fun! Not only can you purchase games at the store but your Wii can connect online and you can purchase games that way, we found one called "Quiz Show King" that is addicting!! My son likes the old school Mario games and you can even buy the controller for that.
