Why do some people.....

What is the deal with so many people I have run across lately getting so upset that we let our little girl believe in Santa Clause? My wife and I put emphasis on Jesus but we see no problem with letting her believe in Santa. However this year several people have told me we are wrong for this. I am getting aggravated and I am afraid it is starting to show towards people when they say something. It does not bother me that some parents don’t want to let their kids believe in Santa so why does it bother them I let our little girl believe in him? Thanks for letting me vent this morning.
God bless.

I get the exact opposite.
How can you discourage the belief in Santa!!!! You need to preserve the magic of childhood!!!!! What kind of a parent are you!!!!?
I tell him everyone that gives him a gift is Santa.
You ought to read the letter I got from my ex father in law.

Just remember, you will always have people sticking their nose in your business where it does not belong. Take what they have to say with a smile and move on. It is up to you and your wife to raise your children and if you do not feel it is wrong then continue on with it.
Me personally I do not see any harm in it. I have family members that are anti-christmas and believe you are worshipping the christmas tree, making it your god
Pray about it and do what God put on your heart to do.

We'd just moved from being pretty okay middle class to destitute poor after my father left us in 1973, my mother had remarried a drunk and then left him in 1974, and I was getting to the age where Santa reality gets revealed. My brother, 2 years older than me, broke it to me when we were talking about what we'd want for Christmas. We didn't have any way of getting Christmas, really, and so he just told me the flat truth. I can remember being a bit stunned by it, just the announcement like that. But, I thought about it and it made sense. And, it made further sense that Christmas was a sham. So, I learned really early to hate Christmas. That never really wore off until my daughter was born. I still have a scrooge streak and I have to watch out for it.
Point: Don't be stupid. Love the days, love the pretending, and when you explain the truth one day --- a truth your kid will be ready for because in the end the Santa thing just ain't that big of a deal to them by the time they're like 7 or 8 and they've already pieced it together by then for the most part --- you'll explain it with love and you'll show them that Christmas need not be a bad thing. Just good in ways that they didn't know already.
Enjoy the Santa days and tell whoever thinks otherwise to put a sock in it.

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.” (John 10:1)
Santa is a fabrication, a device of Satan to steal men's hearts and the glory of God.
He knows if you've been bad or good ... Jesus
He gives gifts ... Jesus
He sees you at all times ... Jesus
He is clothed in scarlet ... Jesus
He is very old ... Jesus (ancient of days)
Satan is a liar and the father of if. I may be told to put a sock in it, or that I am putting my nose where it doesn't belong, but it pains me to see Christians involved in "christianized" paganism.
Hold on to the magic if you wish, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
I don't do Santa

I don't do Santa or the Easter bunny, as far as teaching my kids that's where stuff comes from.
I don't mind a chocolate easter bunny or a Santa decoration but the whole "story" is to much for me.
I feel sorry for kids who find out different in front of more mature children.

That kind of comparison can be made with many things.
I give gifts to my family
My children think I can see them always
I have some scarlet clothing, and I bleed red blood, and I would die for them.
my children think I am ancient as well.
am I a "pagan", yet "Christianized" metaphor for God?
no.
But if that's how you really believe for your family, that I don't have a problem with. when you push your interpretation of the theological ramifications on someone else, that is crossing the line, adn you are incorrect.
is what you are saying wrong? maybe, maybe not, but there is a time and a place for that kind of discussion, and bringing it up out of the blue, just to have argument or to make sure that you are right is not correct; in my opinion.
Further, to vicariously make that someone else's moral standard just because you believe it is heretical, in my view; especially if you practice and celebrate Christmas in any form or fashion at all. if that is the case, then, again, my opinion, you have a hypocritical double standard.
If you do not celebrate Christmas, or Easter, or other pagan celebrations, such as Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc.. or January, February, March, etc... then that is another issue altogether.

I can't figure out how you teach a child to believe in Santa without lying to them, unless you just let them hear it from others. We never told our kids Santa was real. We do try to respect other parents and caution our children not to tell kids who believe in Santa that he isn't real.
To each his own I suppose.

So is it wrong to set aside a day to celebrate the birth of Christ? Without the birth we could not have the death, we celebrate the death don't we?

You know, this is the type of stuff that turns people off from Christianity. Beyond the fact that Santa is a harmless tradition about a long gone saint, Christmas itself is a christianised pagan holiday. So let's take this to its logical conclusion. Do you or do you not celebrate Christmas?

I was really only trying to deal with the subject of Santa, but to answer your question, No, I do not celebrate Christmas. All of the "innocent" traditions have been adopted from paganism, and given an coat of Christian paint.
Pagan worship, in old times was to be utterly destroyed ... not adopted. Even gold and silver used in pagan worship was to be ground to powder (not melted down and used to overlay the Ark of the Covenant).
The best the Amalekites had to offer was an abomination in the sight of God, and God was displeased when Saul used it to offer a sacrifice.
God rebuked the Israelites in Amos 5, saying, “I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies. Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept [them]: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts. Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols. But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream” (Amos 5:21-24).
It hurts to have to lay aside something that has become so near and dear to us, in spite of it being contrary to the perfect will of God. But are we willing to worship the Lord in spirit and in truth? Even if it means doing the hard stuff?
In Jeremiah 10, God tells us not to learn the ways of the heathen. But we have failed to heed this command. The celebration of Christmas is relatively new to protestant Christianity, beginning in the 1820s with the "innocent" tale "A Visit from Saint Nicholas." Since then, it has risen, and grown, consuming both protestants and non-believers alike.
It is no secret that the elements of Christmas and Easter are rooted in paganism as adopted by Catholicism, and passed down to us. What is a mystery is why we cling so steadfastly to it, and justify it, learning nothing of the lessons God taught us by the nation of Israel and their rampant idolatry, which He had to purge time and time again.
Ahem

I am not a pagan. I worship Jesus, the Christ. I took our kids to sit on the lap of the fat guy with the fake beard in the mall when they were younger.
My kids, being naturally bright, could instantly see that the white Santa with a fake beard in Mall #1 didn't look anything like the Hawaiian Santa in Mall #2 with a real flowing beard. They knew we didn't even HAVE a chimney, and if we did a fat guy with a bag of toys from WalMart couldn't squeeze down it.
When my son was old enough to ask questions about the whole Santa thing, we explained that Santa was an IDEA, not a PERSON. Generosity? Part of the Santa idea... Giving people nice gifts as surprises? Santa idea... Spending time selecting or making a special gift? Santa idea... Taking no credit for doing something good? Santa idea...
As soon as they "got it" they started wanting to BE Santa, too. They wanted to wrap a gift in the Santa paper and tag if "From Santa." I don't find that evil or dishonest... it is a fun fantasy.
