Doris Tolbert -Gary passed this morning.

She was the wife of Pastor Johnny Tolbert. He pastored Keith St. among the many churches he pastored. Their son Pete and daughter Vicki still live in Cleveland and attend there.

She later married Charles Gary who was also a pastor in the COGOP for many years. He passed about 3 years ago with cancer.

She had fought cancer for several years.

She was a great and classy lady. She will be missed. I do not know any of the arrangements.

My family and the Tolberts go back 50+ years. I was sad to hear of Johnny's death years ago, and now Doris.

If anyone sees Pete please give him my condolences.

God Bless the Tolbert family. Pete and I were room mates at TC and have remained close friends through the years. Brother and Sister Tolbert were always kind to me. She suffered here - but is now free from all pain.

Sis. Doris was one of my favorites. She was a great lady and loved by many. She will be greatly missed. Our love and prayers go out to her family.

My wife and I join is expressing our deepest sympathy to Tolbert family. Brother and Sister Tolbert were dear friends, and our pastor at Keith Street. What a Home-Coming we're all getting ready for!

She'll be missed. Bro. Tolbert married my wife and I and he gave me my first revival in Clarksville many years ago and they both helped me in the ministry more than they knew. Class people! Praying for Pete & Vicki.

The veiwing will be from 4-8 PM on Sunday January 18th and the funeral will be on Monday January 19th at 11:00 AM. Both are at the Keith Street Church. The church will open an hour before the funeral.

I heard of this in an email from a close friend. She had suffered so. My first thought: "She is at home with Jesus and Johnny!"

Johnny and Doris Tolbert... I've never met finer people. His memory is cherished to me. God placed him as my pastor at Keith Street at a crucial and pivotal time of my life. His sweet and encouraging spirit got me through - to victory. I have thought many times, "Other men might have given up." Thank God for the Tolberts. It was a distinct honor to serve under his leadership.

RMP, I agree. What a renunion day we are going to experience.

Sister Tolbert/Gary (aka...Nenawl) has such an amazing spirit about her. But I just wanted to share just ONE of the things about her...about 3 or 4 months ago, I remember glancing up from my back row seat and seeing her in the middle of worship, arms out wide, almost running back and forth in the pew, in total surrender and worship like no other. Knowing how much pain she had just prior to service told me she had, yet there she was, giving God everything and more of what she had in her.

THAT...is pure worship.

I could go on...and on with my lifetime of knowing her. She is the type of woman I want to become.
