How many will pray for him?

Postby Pastor Gary » January 17th, 2009, 5:30 pm

Just wondering how many of you will take time during your Sunday service to pray for the incoming President and his administration?

The elections are over, and now we celebrate the fact that, in our Republic, power doesn't transfer at the point of a gun, or bayonet... it transfers peacefully, through free election, and it transfers with dignity, pomp, ceremony, hope for the future, and prayers for God's blessing. 1st Timothy 2:2 is just as applicable for Obama as it was for Bush:

Pray for rulers and for all who have authority so that we can have quiet and peaceful lives full of worship and respect for God.
"God is excited to show you mercy. He rises to give you His compassion." (Isaiah 30:18)

"For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield." (Psalm 5:12)

We have already more than once.

Whether I like him or not I want him to succeed just not with his agenda.

Our local church has already been in corporate prayer in Obama's behalf and will continue to do so regularly.

Yes, when it comes to the presidency, our duty is two-fold:

Constitutionally we must vote

Biblically we must pray

I pray Obama performs all for which God has chosen him at such a time. He is coming to the Oval office at one of the most crucial times of history, and will need all the help he can get. I just hope he gets it from the right source.

I plan to pray harder for his sucess then I did to keep him out. We don't need any more holidays and want his replacements. And yes PG is right, come Tuesday he will be all of ours president, bar-non and our prayers are with him if he stays on cource. I will say that he does scares me with his back ground and some of the things that he has said in the past. Maybe that now that he will be in office that he will be like most of the others and stay the course, that is the basic of our government.

Yes, I will be praying for Obama. I might not agree with him, but I do believe we are mandated to hold him up before the Lord as the President of our country.

As the President of the United States of America he deserves our prayers and respect.

Prayers for him and our country are included in my daily prayers as I have done for all our presidents.

I just posted this on another forum in answer to a similiar question.

I believe that there is a lack of respect for those that God has placed over us in the time that we are now living in. I don't care if your talking about a Pastor or the President. People just don't show respect for authority anymore. With that said, I must say this.......

We need to pray for our President no matter what our personal political beliefs are. I am a die hard Republican but I have and will continue to pray for him. And the number one reason is because he is being set up for failure. The weight of the world is on his shoulders and people are looking to him as some kind of Messiah. Nobody, wether Republican or Democrat could live up to the expectations of the American public right now. I feel bad for him.

Maybe more than I've ever prayed for one, not just because I'm scared of his agenda, but because our country needs our president and our president needs the people, and only God can bridge that particular gap!
