Many times people come to me and tell me how lucky I am to be able to travel around the world, and go to some of the places I get to go to. Well their is always another side to every story.

Presently I am in The Delhi India Airport in transit to Pakistan. The connecting flight only leaves every three days. Well through a major mixup my reservation somehow is lost in the computer Via Pakistan Airlines in New York Ciity. I have missed my flight

I do not have an entry visa for India because I was ?? making a direct connection for onward traveling, with an entry visa to Pakistan. It is about 2 a.m. here and I cannot see anyone until 7 a.m. I was last told that I would have to remain in the airport until the next flight in three days. So after a three hoour flight from Cal. to Chicago a three hour layover then a 15 hour flight to Delhi hre I am...stuck Wasn't there a movie about this with Tom hanks ?

No, I don't fly first class, to expensive, so no vip lounge. So I am very concerned that when the next person tells me how nice it must be to travel

Wow, Paul, I'm sorry to hear of your situation. Terrible! The only thing comparable in my life is when the Canadian border agents wouldn't let me across the border, and I had to sleep in my car overnight in the North Dakota cold. That wasn't fun, but I can't imagine three days in an airport, without being able to leave.

Once on a layover in Naples, I found a hole in the airport fence and, without an Italian visa, went walking around the neighborhoods to kill the time. Maybe you can find a hole, or make one. I'll be thinking of you.

I saw that movie! I imagine it isn't such a nice place to be...

Having just returned from the Philippines, I can tell you that 3rd world airports are not like US airports. Few comfortable places to rest, limited food options, less-than-optimal bathroom situations, lack of (or inadequate) air conditioning...

My heart goes out to you.

Between this & the 25 random things about me thread -
I realize more & more that I lead a somewhat simple
and mundane life and shouldn't complain nearly as much
as I do!

I once flew from CA to MO & got stuck on a 4 hour
layover in Vegas while we waited for repairs.
If it makes you feel any better - when we finally got
airbound again - we hit major turbulence with the
barf bags a flying & people praying like there was
no tomorrow.

I've always been a little apprehensive about traveling
out of the country - and this is just another supporting
argument! I was always afraid that something like this
would happen - or I would go on a cruise and get kidnapped
while on an excursion!

Something amusing while I sit here. I finally got to get into a lounge what I would consider a McDonald's sitting area. But at least I can streatch out. I have been here almost 12 hours so far.

When I got here there was some sandwiches set out. Chicken Salad, tuna salad and beans. Of course I am hungry and gave it a try. Not bad. Well twelve hours later I am watching people come in and get those same sandwiches. I wonder how long they had been sitting when I ate them 12 hours ago.

How are things? Any update for us? Have you found ways to enliven the time? How much longer to go?

I guess you are thankful for your laptop. At least you can vent to people in the real world. Most of us are sitting in warm comfortable homes with lots of food and good bathroom facilities among other blessings. Our thoughts are with you. It will be wonderful for you when you get back home.
