Ghost

Held to be the disembodied spirit or soul of a deceased person described as insubstantial and partly transparent.

A poll conducted in 2003 showed that more than half of adults in the United States believe in ghosts. To date, there is no solid empirical evidence of the existence of ghosts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost

So my question would be do you believe then does the church believe and teach? The ghost that i'm refering to is of a location.

As in Amityville House is portrayed as a haunted house.
A place where ghosts are reported is described as haunted, and often seen as being inhabited by spirits of deceased who may have been former residents or were familiar with the property. Supernatural activity inside homes is said to be mainly associated with violent or tragic events in the building's past such as murder, accidental death, or suicide — sometimes in the recent or ancient past. Amongst many cultures and religions it is believed that the essence of a being such as the 'soul' continues to exist. Some philosophical and religious views argue that the 'spirits' of those who have died have not 'passed over' and are trapped inside the property where their memories and energy are strong.

My personal view is that familiar spirits and demonic activity is the foundation for the paranormal. I've heard accounts of demonic activity in Christian homes that perfectly parallels the accounts of ghosts and poltergeists in other homes.

My 2 cents. Demons hear and remember events. They can mimmick "spirits" with total recall of events that they have witnessed and imitate deceased human souls. This would explain why the "spirits" of the departed could recall information and events.

So would you say than any and all spirit (ghost) than inhabit a house would be an evil spirit at the lest more toward demons.
Not a deceased person spirit that is some how not "pass over"

I can't use the Bible for my proof, but I am speaking from experiences that my father( a pastor) experienced. I do believe that when a person dies their soul goes to either heaven or hell. It does not stay on this earth.
My Dad dealt with a few experiences like this. It was demonic stuff, not "non passed over" souls.

When we went through Sedona, AZ...there were advertisements to take a tour of the area's "vortexes"...aka places where the universes' energy came together and you could commune with this energy :? ....aka you spend big bucks to be taken out into the desert to sit on a rock in the hot sun.

However, I thought. I am a walking vortex...a person filled with The Holy Ghost. If I were to come into contact with their vortex, theirs would have to flee...because mine is stronger. :)

Don't forget the Mind

I absolutely do not believe that the spirits of the deceased remain on the earth. I have had dear brothers and sisters in the Lord try to persuade me otherwise, but again there is no evidence of this phenomenon. The bible speaks of the deceased coming forth with Jesus, but that was due to resurrection power and it was temporary.

Now, demons do exist to torment and cause fear. Their tricks may include appearing as the deceased (I'm not even convinced of this.) But I believe the most likely culprit is the mind. Some are easily persuaded that ghosts exist and therefore they do, again the product of the mind. Some are tormented with mental illness, severe grief at the death of a loved one, and any other of many mental trauma. The mind can produce images that are not really there. Additionally, the devil uses the mind to torment hurting people as well.

Are there ghosts?...NO! IMHO.

And although it may have been used as comfort to the grieving....also the righteous dead (who are asleep in Christ awaiting the rapture) are not "watching and protecting us from above".
