While some don't have mp3 players and ipods, most have a way to play recorded music in one way or another.

As I began my particular play list this afternoon, I question came to mind about kinds of music people listen to and why.

after watching Food Network a bit yesterday, there were some mentions of comfort-foods. which formulated further my curiosity.

Do you have "comfort-music"? if so what, and maybe why?

For me: I have a MS Zune, and on it is a special play list that I seem to head to a lot when I am feeling in need of a "lift" or when I need to relax and "de-stress".

My play list is called "Christmas Music". the genre's are as varied as music can be, but they are all songs that, for me, are comforting, relaxing and meditative.

Manheim Steamroller, Kathy Mattea, MW Smith, SC Chapman, Kenny G. and many others. ahhhhhh - Christmas music.

No mp3 player. I listen to talk radio while at the office and not on the phone. I listen to talk and sports talk in the car alone. If my daughter is with me, the current fave is Taylor Swift CD. Yeah ... I know. :?

Taylor Swift is not a great singer IMHO, but I am impressed with her as a lyricist, songwriter and savvy young business person. She pretty much took charge of every detail of her current tour; sound, lighting, staging, choreography, pacing, and for a 19-year-old is pretty sharp, and -- from what I am told -- is a decent girl.

I don't have playlists per se on the ipod, but I usually listen to a particular genre depending on the mood. My 'comfort music' is almost always the worship genre.

I don't like Taylor Swift's voice, but for a kid, she is a talented songwriter. My daughter likes the princess-y dresses on her videos. I watched her sing with Def Leppard on TV a few weeks back and just recoiled. Computers really do a lot for recorded voices. It is all about looks now. :?

(These are mostly instrumental's, it's what I listen to when I'm reading, very relaxing!) 8)

If she comes on the radio...the station gets changed. If you have heard her live (on a awards show) she sounds terrible, like nails scratching down a chalkboard.
