Hey guys, would you allow your 17, just turned 17 like two weeks ago, daughter to date (go out with, be the girlfriend of, etc.) a 27 year old guy (I won't say man because men know the difference and generally respect the girl, her parents, her family, and the law)?

NO. Nope. Never.

The experience gap is just too great. My 21-year-old daughter is seeing a 27-year-old, and I had a few misgivings about THAT gap, until I vetted the guy pretty closely. That's a six-year difference and an adult female. Barely 17 to 27 is a decade. Ask the daughter if she is the same person she was at age 7... help her see how much growth, change and maturity she has experienced in the past 10 years, and then extrapolate that to the 27-year-old.

Besides, what 27-year-old guy really WANTS to date a 17-year-old?? (unless for some kind of pervy reasons...)

I don't have any natural daughters, but have many young girls who look to me as a father. I have publicly challenged several men (60-70+) who come to the Philippines looking for some 18 year old. Promising to marry her and take her back to America (Yea Right) many of these guys marry the girl spend a few weeks then leave never to return nor send for the girl. These girls lives are a mess. I openly confront these guys as to their intentions. Get many strange looks and cussed out a few times, but oh well.

The age gap at 17 is much to large.

no way........

Under 18 could lead to illegal activities, at least here in Washington.

I dont think so. It is too big of an age difference. But you have to handle it carefully. Seventeen year olds usually think they are much more mature, wise and sophisticated than they really are.

Ask the 17-year-old how interested she would be in dating a 7-year-old.

Once she laughs at how ridiculous that would be, make the obvious comparison.

I agree on the NO on this one!!! I think a person does the most changing mentally in their early to mid 20's so she is not ready to date someone that much older than her!!!

how do you guys feel about a 47-year old (really awesome, never been married, CHRISTIAN)guy with a 28 year old girl?

Well Teach...some things that are not a problem NOW...could be a problem within a few years...47 is not that far from being able to get the discount coffee

However...you are old enough and educated enough to make that kind of decision...you just have to consider that in 30 years you would be 58 and he would be 77...so there would come a day that you would become a caregiver instead of a wife...

About the time that you are retiring and ready to travel the world...he'll be ready to travel alot too...like to the pharmacy...the doctor...etc...

I know things are changing for Seniors...and I mean no offense to you or anyone that may read this...

Just food for thought!
