Just an FYI Kev, as long as you receive your overseer's approval you can accept outside pastoral appointments without any negative implications regarding your licensing or standing in TCOG. It's actually an assembly ruling.

Of course there are other limitations and procedures connected therewith, but that is the basic idea behind the ruling.

yes. I would believe it.

I also believe (know), there are some in COGOP that do not believe I have salvation.
I also know of some in COGOP, that believe that you must belong to a local COGOP, in order to make it to heaven.
I also know of some local COGOP's that are nearly "independent" in their processes and teachings.
I also know of some COGOP's that teach what I would consider to be heretical teachings (specifically the "prosperity Gospel").
etc...

BTW - noe of these are in reference to you at all One Love. I am demonstrating that there is a wide diversity of what it means to be "COGOP", and what they believe at that local church-level.

And, to think we used to condemn the AoG for being that way - different from one local church to another - and pride ourselves on being "the same in doctrine wherever you go". Of course, we thought that made us the "one true bride".

I do think that it is sad when "doctrinal" issues change depending on who is pastor/overseer.

I fear for RamboPreacher if his overseer is replaced by some others I know. He will "lose" his "license" and status as a COGOP "minister". NOT his calling, obviously, but his ability to function as a rep of the org. which he has aligned with. Happened here in CA, so I know it can happen there, as well.

maybe. but at this point, I doubt they could do it without my failing in some obvious and public way. no need to fear for me. God has called me and His will be done. :)

I pray that you are correct. However, that is NOT what took place here in CA. The pastor was simply informed that he no longer had a license in COGOP and therefore could not continue as pastor.

He was given one week to vacate the parsonage.

:(:(:(

Yes, I would even though that is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO very sad. I hope it wasn't an overseer who was seeking to allow a church to retreat further back into darkness and out of the LIGHT that has been shown on COGOP in the past few years.

After all, the covenant doesn't allow for that move so an overseer shouldn't allow local church members to violate their covenant.

Wow kinda harsh statement why would it be sad? you must not know much about me,...
I gues I will keep the rest to myself at the moment.
Thanks for the kind remarks from others... This was not a negaive post at all, it was agood size church and the "person very nice"
