mp3 questions

I've bought my daughter a Sansa mp3 player for Christmas. The iPod was too much for a 6 year old to lose and break.

The Shuffle is just too tiny, the others too expensive for what she needs to have. Anyway, I'm having a difficult time finding a place to easily purchase music online. When I say "easily", I mean dummy proof.
Recommendations, faves?

amazonmp3.com
amazon.com 25 days of free mp3s - incl. Christian music
I think Amazon.com makes it quite simple to buy and download their MP3s, one-click or otherwise.

I agree with Daniel, Amazon.com is an easy place to shop. I bought my youngest (who is now 9) a Sansa when he was 7 and he loves it. Never had a difficult time operating it. I pretty much went with the Sansa for the same reasons you mentioned dofan. I have about 35gb of mp3 on my computer, but if we need to buy anything new, I go to Amazon, even for my iPod. I dont like the apple format.... i want an mp3.

All my tech guys complain when I use MP3s. They say they are "lossy and noisy" and they always ask me for AAC encoded files. ))shrug((

yes, highly compressed mp3's can be lossy. but purchased ones aren't, that I have ever experienced, in any case. it's the folks that rip their own and want to make them tiny as possible that get into the loss-ness. i have loads of music and rips in mp3, and all sound great, at any level. When I buy or rip lectures, however, i may compress them a whole lot more than music.
The sansa gives the option of two modes of operation as well. one is straight USB and this is my personal preference, to know what get's copied and to what folder, because I put it there!. something you can not do with an Apple. (it does have the sync mode too, and can be made ignorant-user-friendly).
with that said, I do have a MS zune. which, like the apple has it's own proprietary software that you have to use. bah. i don't like it, but it has a 120 Gig storage, and is perfect for what I like to use it for. In fact, I don't use it to listen to the Bible any more. I have dedicated mp3 players for that now. one for each version, so that I can just pick up the one I want and hit play.
it's all personal preference.

I have both the Amazon software and iTunes downloaded on my laptop now. I like the looks and apparent ease of use of Amazon a lot, although iTunes looks good, too. I don't know why but I've just been really slow to jump into buying music online. Now, I've got a toy (well, my daughter's

) to play with and I'll preload her some stuff before Christmas morning.
Some Veggie Tales. Yea, Alabama (she sings it year round --- that's my girl). Some Celtic Woman music (we've been watching them on PBS recently and she loves it). Since I'm not up on CCM, give me some good recommendations.

I havent had any issues with the MP3's I play on my iPod, Sansa or on the church PA. One of the main reasons I like buying the mp3 file rather than the iPod format is I can then choose where I want to play it. If I buy it on iTunes, I can only play it on a registered PC (which my one at church is not since we have not internet access.)

Dolfan,
If you like the the functionality of itunes as a music manager, use it, but still buy from Amazon, imo. Their download tool (Amazon MP3 Downloader) will auto sync to Itunes.

Synchronizing is matching what is in your music folder into a device.
rjjunior is saying that Amazon MP3 Downloader will sync automatic with itunes. It will place all of your music downloads in the itune manager.
I'm not sure if it will convert mp3 to AAC, but if not one can do that manually.
Also the itune manager can convert mp3, wmp, etc. to AAC files.
