My cell phone is dieing. actually it locks up and reboots at odd times. Can make it reboot on demand.

Out of warranty. in a two year contract. i have insurance but
my carrier has offered to do an early upgrade.

I was with Alltel for many years. but Verizon bought them out here in NC. so I am stuck with verizon.

So any suggestions on a phone with verizon.

I still have a plan that I got under Altell which is a better plan than Verizon is offering.

If I got a say Blackberry etc. How much more does it cost for the ability to do internet activities.

Just about any phone will do texting but internet cost more YES?

I worked for Verizon for years. I love my service I never drop a call in MS. You can get an unlimited data plan added to a new Verizon plan you probably won't be able to keep your alltel plan. But you can add the unlimited data plan for 29.99. I purchased the Droid when it came out an I LOVE IT. Sorry Iphone lovers but this phone is the best if you don't agree at least tie it. At least check it out. Let me know if you have any questions. The Droid is great especially if you use Google services.

My cell service is ATT, it is provided by the church. I pay the data service which is $20.00 for unlimited and my text is for 200 text per month and is $5.00.

I have been with alltel for many years. But for some reason Verizon bought out Alltel here in NC. Had no choice in the manner.

They bought out Altell everwhere. My dad was upset, he loved his Altell plan better.

I have the iphone with at&t and think it's the best. But it is pricey! I get a 24% discount thru work or I would be at verizon.

Stevenson, my first question for a Verizon tech call is.

Can I switch back to Alltel.?? answer Nope.
Now what can i do for you.

Just before snow started getting serious this afternoon
I stopped by the Verizon store.

Ended up with this phone.

And already irritated. Some of the features I had on my Alltel phone did not transfer over because Verizon charges extra for them.

Alltell called them Cell Tops. Weather, News, etc.

Verizon calls them Dashboard apps. cost.

my two cents worth

I'm currently a VZW customer. Considering that I'm not longer under contract, I've seriously considered switching carriers. Mind you, I don't have a fancy-shmancy smart phone and only have a basic, cheap plan. It seems I can do much better elsewhere (think: AT&T w/ rollover minutes). I'll have to see how things pan out and research further.

We have 4 phones. 1 is an Iphone with internet & unlimited texting. The other 3 have unlimited texting. We share 2100 minutes per month. All 4 phones are touch screens. Our bill is $180 per month. We have about 7,000 rollover minutes that we'll burn thru over the next couple months and then we'll start all over again building them up.

I had Altell and now verizon. Still under the altell plan. I have a blackberry phone and my husband has some kind of LG phone. I pay about 160 a month. I think I paid about 190 for the blackberry curve. But I do have the internet, yahoo messenger, gtalk, and blackberry messenger. I think under the altell smart phone plan the blackberry is a good deal.

That is the same phone I got.

LG Env3 so far I really like it. Takes great pics.

Even with my fat fingers I can type txt messages etc with the qwerty
keyboard.

Volume is great I like using the speaker phone.

I can upload both photos and video directly to Facebook. :)

My biggest questions is the Dashboard features. Cant tell what cost you
extra or not.

Thanks Billy. I think I would like the Env3 and will most likely go with that when we switch over.
